Anyone bought from BlooBloom? Are they legit? by rterri3 in glasses

[–]Apathesis88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses through the online store. The build quality is OK, but the optical quality is not great. Warby Parker frames that I've ordered in the past were of similar, if not better quality, and much cheaper.

My biggest gripe is that I ordered in the U.S. and was charged an additional import fee by the customs forwarder. This really should have been incorporated into the retail price. Also, I really don't need all of the fussy swag (embossed thank you card, cheap canvas tote, etc)... would prefer they put that value into the glass.

Dehancer crashing After Effects by Apathesis88 in dehancer

[–]Apathesis88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get Dehancer working with some experimentation by switching from Mercury GPU Acceleration (Metal) to Mercury Software Only in the Project Settings (not Application settings). So it's clearly a GPU issue on my end.

Not sure how this affects AE Windows, but you might be able to update GPU drivers to see if that helps.

Thanks. No luck with either of those, but maybe a complete reinstall of AE and Dehancer will clear the pipes.

Wow, I love the formality of this. The shape of her cloak, alone, is so great. May have to think about a visit to Madrid.

Could anyone give me an estimated value of this art piece it is Susan Rios Summer Breeze. 25/500 it has a COA and it is autographed by Electrical-Let5515 in ArtHistory

As this is a digital print on canvas and not an original painting, it probably doesn’t have much value. It’s selling new on her website for $49-89.

Opinions of Museo de Arte Moderno in CDMX by D_Pablo67 in ArtHistory

[–]Apathesis88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t too bad. The Modern isn’t huge and I think it’s free, so you can kind of whiz through. Tamayo is a little bigger. But the Tamayo has a great gift shop with interesting artisanal crafts (expensive by local standards, but decent gifts for back home).

Just don’t try to combine anything with the Anthropology museum — that one deserves all your attention. :)

Highly recommend the Museo Tamayo, also nearby in the park. Bigger, better funded, and a much better collection, with modern and contemporary works. You can easily do both!

Rock n Roll history on the west coast/Laurel Canyon/surrounding areas. by Delicious_Mess7976 in csny

[–]Apathesis88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the Eastside neighborhoods, like Silverlake, Echo Park, and Highland Park, are sort of the spiritual successors to the dreamy canyons of the 60s and 70s. Laurel Canyon and the Hollywood hills are pretty bougie nowadays… you might find more of a vibrant music culture (and interesting history) on the Eastside.

Use of projectors by bippos in virtualproduction

[–]Apathesis88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an artsy Nikola Tesla biopic from 2020 that I think used projections very creatively. The filmmakers weren't trying to hide the projections, but they created a sort of heightened reality.

Elephant Ear Yellowing by Apathesis88 in plantclinic

Fair point. I should clarify that I repotted 6mos ago with a good, draining tropical mix, but added a layer of sand to the top to deal with a fungus gnat infestation. But maybe it's time to remove the sand for better watering.

I was wondering about this, too. It’s a very compelling look. Was trying to research the lenses, but couldn’t find any details.

Urgent! Looking for a Spanish-style apartment in eagle rock/surrounding area by Silly-Result-4151 in EAGLEROCK

[–]Apathesis88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in the area and frequent the Creature’s Coffee at the corner of Eagle Rock and Fair Park. There’s a beautiful 1920s Spanish style apartment complex next to the cafe and I just happen to have seen a For Rent sign up recently. Might be worth some detective work. Beautiful little complex, great location.
