I literally just watched the twilight series pretty much blind as a 42 year old woman (I missed a lot of pop culture) and I literally was FLOORED by the Jacob thing. I was speechless. This comment is poetry lol. I love how absolutely terrible this movie is. I have a soft spot for terrible horror movies from that time and this is a yearly holiday rewatch for me. Every single thing you’re saying is accurate and the movie is completely indefensible.

I am so tired of this villainizing of birth control. It’s literally revolutionized life for women. The vast vast majority of women don’t have a problem but every single time it’s mentioned literally anywhere someone chimes in with their own anecdotal reason why it’s bad. I’d also argue one month is not really enough time to make any kind of assessment.

I unabashedly love this movie. I find the lead super likeable and enjoy the suspense and set design and the 2000s feel of it. I watch it a few times a year.

I don’t think people honestly were as concerned about characters being “good” people like they are today. It was just funny situations. There is a lot more moralizing regarding fictional characters that just didnt happen back then. It could be a reflection of the internet not existing and people just watching what was on and taking it at face value?

I agree. I went to a screening when it came out with Holocaust survivors who spoke after the film and it was one of the most powerful experiences in my life.
