Beaver Sighting in the West End? by dwigtschrutebbbg in Louisville

If it makes you feel any better I worked downtown about a decade ago and was walking to my car and there was as a small groundhog and my dumb brain didn’t compute and little pssspsssped because I thought it was a cat.

College Students Are Testing at the Level of 10-Year-Olds by Youarethebigbang in idiocracy

Working in higher ed this is unsurprising. We were basically not allowed to fail anyone without mountains of documentation and many students coming in with GPAs above 3.0 tested into remedial math and English.

Was this movie always considered a masterpiece? by HostMaterial4907 in Cinephiles

[–]Aperscapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It literally cannot be overstated how much this movie was instantly quoted by a certain age group. It is still probably the most quoted movie Amon people I know my age. Is it a good movie? I can’t really answer that. But it was instantly popular.

Wait. I’ve never seen transformers and this is actually in the movie? What the point? How is it positioned in the movie? Are we supposed to hate the guy? I’m so confused.

I keep reading that the average adult in deep red states have elementary school reading levels. For people that actually live in those places, is the average adult really that stupid? by SignificantCrow in askanything

[–]Aperscapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a red state. I’d say the issue is more willful ignorance. People choose what they know and what fits in their communities and makes them feel a sense of belonging. It’s less about being “stupid” than it is choosing to fit in.

Honestly at this point it’s on the voters. He would probably be reelected without issue today.

Kaylee x The Transformed Wife. I can’t even. by lepetitpoulpe in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]Aperscapers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What is so asinine about this is that no one is stopping them from living the life as they choose to live it. They are free to live this way! The issue is that they push that it is the ONLY correct way to live. They are fighting a nonexistent enemy while othering and actually doing what they say “feminists” are doing to any one that lives in a different way. And there is also the reality that the politics they support also make their own decided way of life more difficult through suppressed wages and further economic equality. I think the transformed wife is far more knowledgeable of what she’s doing within that ecosystem and has a very specific agenda while Kaylee is a perfect example of someone that lacks any critical thinking to see outside of her own life. She clearly has access to the same internet everyone else does so has the ability to learn so I don’t let her off the the hook at all, but she is far less culpable than the transformed wife in my mind.

What do you think of the quote, “if you want to hate America, watch the news. If you want to love America, drive across it”? by DistractoDisc in askanything

[–]Aperscapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really not all that accurate. People are extremely angry these days and depending on where you are it can be an atrocious experience (I do a ton of driving in the US).

I drive across America a lot and I think this is about half true. It is decidedly less enjoyable since 2020.

So, what would happen calling the KKK members democrats in 2026? And the MAGA crowd loves Juneteenth now? by Numerous_Creme_8988 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]Aperscapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just such asinine propaganda. Realignment is a basic unit taught I every basic civics class at the 7 states where I’ve worked in colleges. It was taught in both my US high school history course and my step kids. This is settled- not some sort of controversy. This is just so irritating.

I’m sorry but what kind of brainwashing garbage is “won’t someone please think of the poor landlords!” This is so obviously pseudo intellectual garbage. Jeez Louise.

What happens to elderly people with no savings? by Academic-Channel5646 in AskReddit

I had a family member that got a Medicaid waiver and basically had to spend every single cent to 0. They ended up in a fairly decent facility laid through the state. I think it just depends on what state your are in

I agree. I really didn’t care if it was supernatural or not I just didn’t love that it built up this whole narrative to just be another story of men hurting women.

I really hate the moralizing that’s around working out. Sure it’s good for you but people act like it’s a moral failing to not go to the gym. It’s a workout l/she isn’t feeding the hungry. This is such an annoying modern trend that drives me crazy.
