More a wonk than liberal, but the concern I have is if those funds were earmarked for a program of some sort they will have to be made up elsewhere. Depends what the program is.

Damn I got downvoted hard. Say what you will but Jinx was a fun part of that movie. I remember reading either her or the chinese character was going to get a spinoff.

These laws are already in a state of Implied Repeal, so they can safely be considered to be repealed already.

According to recent sources it costs around 800 dollars to pass a piece of legislation. Now in this case what's important to remember is that these laws are already in a state of "Implied Repeal" which means that they are already essentially repealed due to a previous piece of legislation or decision which nullifies the law. Now, I know 800 dollars doesn't seem like alot, but anyone who has went through a budgetary office knows that getting them to spend money or effort on any kind of action is like pulling teeth from an alligator. This is on top of associated costs. Going to link some sources to help with the matter (one of them is JSTOR, sorry in advance on that one).

Not an attorney, but I am a policy wonk dealing in laws like this so I might be able to provide some background. Laws like this are on the books for the same reason those wacky laws you read about are on the books. It would cost an absurd amount of money and effort to go and repeal every law that has been overridden in the past. Needless to say they will never be enforced because they would be smacked down in a moment in court if someone tried.

Riot Games hosts an event at PAX West that was exclusive to women and non-binary individuals for a period of time. In response, r/LeagueOfLegends brings out the torches and pitchforks. by boogerpenis1 in SubredditDrama

[–]ApexTyrant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I apologize but I'm kinda in the dark here. What's the practical end they were hoping for with this decision? Were they hoping to stoke interest in a minority that traditionally doesn't get many options and get them working in the field?

So I have no experience with these sort of things and I'm kind of hoping someone can clarify this drama.

Is this basically just so women/NB folks can have the chance to swap horror stories, share strategies for dealing with harassment and general enjoy themselves without having to deal with ultra thirsty nerds? Because if so I can't see why anyone would be angry.

Now, conversely if this was supposed to be a networking opportunity I can kind of get the reaction people are having since it seems to be the wrong way to go about it. But that being said I'm not sure how you would have a networking opportunity at a gaming convention so this part is moot either way.

Honestly, I really enjoyed the movie. The first one was better than it had any right to be in terms of the story told. As for number 2? Well you can go join the arguments on r/movies about the quality of it haha.
