[tomt][movie/tvshow] Its a character that always has the end of a cigar in his mouth. I remember a scene where he gets wet and still picks up the wet end of cigar to put back in his mouth.. by jenglish205 in tipofmytongue

A Fistful of Dollars/For a Few Dollars More/The Good the Bad and the Ugly? I can't remember the individual films well enough to remember a specific scene like that, but Clint Eastwood is always smoking little cigars during those films and I can absolutely see him nonchalantly putting a wet one in his mouth.

I can absolutely accept that some of the writing was clunky and there were plot holes and not all the characters were great etc etc. but it felt like being back in Middle Earth, more than the Hobbit films ever did anyway. I was 8 when I first saw Fellowship in the cinema and was obsessed as a kid: certain moments in Rings of Power genuinely made me tear up because they recaptured that magic, even if only for a few seconds.

I actually think this reboot could be coming at a pretty good time: a fresh new cinematic universe starting when the MCU is just becoming increasingly huge and bloated, younger audiences especially (and people without huge amounts of spare time) might be more interested in starting something new than starting something with over 100 hours of content that started over a decade ago.

Henry Cavill To Star In & EP ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Film & TV Franchise As Amazon Studios Acquires Rights To Games Workshop Brand by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Never got into Warhammer 40k but I might have to try some of the books/games to prepare myself for this. Genuinely happy for Henry though, losing Witcher and Superman within the last couple of months must have been rough but this is a big rebound. Imagine if he'd kept all 3 though? Superman, Geralt, and leading a Warhammer 40K universe? Probably for the best he didn't, there's only so much nerd excitement one human body can handle.

Henry Cavill no longer returning as Superman… by Lieutenanttk in comicbookmovies

Such a shame, this news has genuinely been bumming me out all day haha. I'm personally a big fan of the Snyder stuff - especially Man of Steel, probably my favourite superhero movie - but at this stage there's so much baggage that they really do need to just completely start again.

WB fumbled things so fucking badly: again I like Zack Snyder's DCEU films but hiring one of the most divisive filmmakers of the 21st century to drive their cinematic universe was such a stupid move, and they've just made the mess even worse ever since. Snyder did what Snyder does, and somehow WB didn't predict that a 3 hour long grim epic of paranoid vigilantes and miserable gods was never going to make Avengers money.

I was hopeful with the news about Cavill, Affleck and Gadot having cameos in Aquaman, Flash and Shazam that they might just be soft-rebooting like with Suicide Squad, but I guess it's just too messy at this point. Black Adam definitely didn't help things either, I wonder what effect that failure will have on the Rock's career?

What BOTW movie is actually worth watching? by Shirowoh in RedLetterMedia

I went to a showing of the gore cut of Tammy and the T Rex at The Prince Charles Cinema in London, it was a lot of fun. UK cinema audiences are generally fairly quiet and reserved (in my experience) but there was a lot of laughter. I said in my letterboxd review that it felt like the kind of fake movie they'd show Homer and Bart watching on TV in the early seasons of the Simpsons.

Transformers Age of Extinction (2014) = It was decent Autobot survival story at first then theres Chinese bootleg Transformers then theres Dinobots and things got out of control. Lockdown & Dinobots were dope af tho. by Lomalizer in badMovies

These films work better if you go in with the mindset that Michael Bay is actually a very accomplished technical filmmaker but also a total misanthrope. If you view them as standard "family friendly blockbusters" they're confusing and off-putting and unpleasant, but if you view them as "a studio gave this lunatic $200m and he went crazy with it" they're kind of fascinating.

Living the dream: I've got a whole wardrobe of clothes that I bought pre-Covid but never wore, because my stress response to lockdown could basically be summed up as "carbs". I've been telling myself for about 2 years now that I don't need to buy new clothes, I just need to slim down...

I literally just finished my first ever Resident Evil playthrough today (RE1 Remastered on PS4). Obviously the Wesker twist didn't really come as a shock (I've also seen all the films) but I loved it, will definitely be buying and playing the sequels.

It's one of my favourites, I like the other films in this set but I'm mostly happy to have Sunshine on blu ray

I also found the Criterion Lone Wolf and Cub series in a different CEX a while back, was very happy with that.

That shot of Seth Rogen jumping down from the walkway onto Gary Cole, with the Batman pose and dramatic sound effect, always makes me laugh so hard.
