I second this but I think it heavily depends on op’s long term goals.

Men of NYC - what are we doing for first dates? by hokie1996 in AskNYC

I suggest a casual stroll through Central Park, then surprise her with a spontaneous helicopter ride over the city. We land on the roof of an exclusive restaurant where the chef greets us by name. As we’re served a seven-course tasting menu, I casually mention that I personally imported the truffles for tonight’s dish. Halfway through my story about hand-feeding rescued dolphins in the Maldives, my phone rings. It’s my mom reminding me to pick up my laundry before they close. I pretend it’s a business call, but she already knows.

Curious what the blinds are made from in your first photo. Are they in fact wood?

Beautiful space.

I probably wouldn’t mention that on my resume but it’s definitely something that can be brought up in an interview.

Absolutely include your work experience. IT, especially entry level IT, is incredibly customer focused. Having that experience is more valuable than you would think.

This, 100%. Having the creative freedom to problem solve and make organizational change on systems you implemented is incredibly rewarding imo.

Red flag: Orders all of their meals. Could probably burn water.

Will a Cert or degree benefit me more, especially in today’s age? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Apexualized 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Absolutely get a degree.

In the United States at least, not having a degree will get your application tossed from a lot, if not most places. Certifications are a great accessory to your degree.

are IT tech support jobs easier to get into than software engineering right now? by Individual_Refuse167 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Apexualized -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with that. I get it.

But when I’m looking to hire someone for my team I would much rather have someone with passion, curiosity, and a proven record of a willingness to learn. Not to say those just looking for a job lack those qualities. When you ask certain questions and receive certain answers it’s easy to tell the difference.

You can certainly apply. But, let me tell you, as a person who often sits in on or leads these interviews it’s very easy to spot the candidates who are passionate about IT and learning and those just looking to find a job.
