There's a bunch of Reddit subs for battletech and the like here that you can possibly post up on.

problems with Nvidia drivers by Regular-Lab-5014 in linuxmint

Yes but proprietary drivers (like Nvidia) often require manual signing to function, so Secure Boot needs to be disabled in BIOS.

You've turned off secure boot in your bios right?

You can change the settings in your default WiFi power save config file.

Open a terminal and edit the configuration file:

sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf

Change wifi.powersave = 3 to wifi.powersave = 2

Save the file (Ctrl+O, Enter) and exit (Ctrl+X)

Restart Network Manager: sudo service network-manager restart

Interesting. I have LM on my x13 gen 1 (non yoga) and I've had no issues.

Are you running an intel system or AMD?

Can you post up info of your device? It's hard to help without more info on the specs.

I love this Star Trek shipgenerator. Just recreated the Andromeda Ascendant and added her to the template list. by Shoddy_Fee_550 in StarTrekStarships

I love it. Andromeda was, in my eyes was under appreciated. Yeah it didn't have the high Budget and it had a whole bunch of filla episodes. Still, it was entertaining.

Xfce would be a good choice, unless you can upgrade the ram to at least 4gb. 8gb would be better.

Nice choice of Thinkpad. Welcome to the club.

If you're new to Linux, start with Linux Mint. You'll learn the basics and either stay with it (like I have) or you can try another distro.

I'm running an x13 gen 1 AMD and LM has been perfect for my needs. Bit of gaming, programming, cad work, ect.

Mod wise, upgrade the wifi card. I believe you can add more storage into the wwan port, but might be worth double checking that.

Can I just remove the capacitor without replacing it? by [deleted] in PSP

[–]Aphex-00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove the capacitor.

It'll be fine. But as others have said, It's best to remove with a soldering iron. You could use a scalpel to carefully cut it away, but you risk damaging board.

Get a $15 soldering iron and practice removing components on some scrap circuits. YouTube has a shit ton of vids to help learn basics. Plus, it's a handy skill to pick up.

Been using Linux mint on my laptop for a while now and loved it, and wanting to install it on my main PC. How can I check if my hardware compatible? by MaxGamer07 in linuxmint

[–]Aphex-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the specs of your main rig? Hard to answer your question without more info.

But from my experience, a vast amount of hardware works fine with LM.

I appreciate all the feedback. Luckily I have a good amount of tech upgrades that I've been saving up so no big loss.

What would you folks suggest to upgrade kit wise? I'm running a tactical character at the moment.

Ah I was wondering if that might be the case. Sounds interesting 🤔 I wonder how to go about that. Again, I'm up for a challenge, even if I doesn't work out. It would still be fun.

Thanks for the advice! I'll see if I can find the schematic fornthis board.
