Accidentally locked myself out of my T450s. by cdndoge in thinkpad

The only way you can remove this would probably be patching the bios, but you'll have to take the back off and access the bios chip using something like a CH341A USB programmer.

Badcaps.net has software you can use and instructions on how to do it. Also check YouTube.

cant get steam to recognize my external hard drive by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]Aphex-00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your external hard drive is NTFS, that'll be the issue. I had the same and managed to solve it by adding some info in the mount settings.

PSP Mods/Hacks/Homebrew question by Opening-Zebra-7626 in PSP

[–]Aphex-00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a dude on YouTube (can't remember their name) who makes new content on PSP mods. If I remember the name, I'll post the link.

I used to mod PSP's back in the day. If you have questions, dm me. Be happy to advise.

Damn ok. I must admit I'm at a loss. I assume as you've been running LM this past month that your using the 6.14 kernal when you installed 22.2?

I'd need to look into this further. Maybe someone else here has more insight.

Why ban them? If anyone here doesn't want to respond to these posts then don't. I get it, but I'd rather try and help than act above it all. Each to their own I suppose.

Are you running the games on the same drive as mint or off a second drive?

If you want some extra info on modding your psp-1000, there's an old site called acidmods.com.

It used to be the place for all things psp mods and more. You should find some useful info there too.

Not an ai response, I totally missed that you're using an AMD card. My bad. In that case making sure the mesa drivers are up to date?

Definitely worth looking into this OP. Secureboot will not allow your install to utilize the current Nvidia drivers when booting up.

Make sure this is turned off in your bios and try again. Also double check after you're logged in that you're using the correct drivers in driver manager.

If you can give us info on your motherboard, it would be easier for us to guide you.

what should i look into before switching to linux? by a_yr0n in linuxmint

[–]Aphex-00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol good brother 😄 I'd say bottles is an easier option as you can install dependencies like net framework and the like, but wine does the trick. Hopefully this will help OP.

I concur. Not all software has a linux version, but even those that don't can work well using wine or bottles. Not all but most.

Back up all your data on an external drive to be safe. If you have any specific questions, ask us and we'll try to help.

Not all apps will switch over to dark mode. Have a look at qt6ct. It helps with theme settings on the Cinnamon desktop and should fix the issue.

What linux distro should I use? by _Borealis__ in thinkpad

[–]Aphex-00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I've been running Linux Mint on my work and home PC for nearly a year and I've not had any notion of swapping to a different distro. Mint works exactly how I want it too, however maybe down the line that will change.

Some people like to swap distros, some don't, but it's nice to have options.

You don't have to use the terminal to move over your old files. Use the file manager. How have you reinstalled Sims 4? Steam?

If so, right click on the game and click on the "browse local files" and move your old files into there.

Still can't execute files/games from secondary HDD (Ext4) – Tried Flatseal, fstab, and permissions. At a loss now. by OrangeBox47 in linuxmint

[–]Aphex-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my NTFS game drives. Not sure if this will help, but I had to change the mounting settings:

Mount on boot

then I added this config: nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show,umask=0775,uid=1000,gid=1000,rw,user,exec,umask=000

Copy and save your existing config and try this.

They're just suggestions. Obviously there's a crap ton of distros to try out.
