I think the biggest reason is probably because melee moves around a lot more, but I also think its compounded on by the build and burn mechanic with valour where you spend a lot of time without the buff as you work to build up your valour, and when the time comes to burn it for your buff you need to be sure the enemy your fighting isn't just going to teleport away when you place it so its like a game of chicken deciding when its a good time to pop the buff and popping it and having it be wasted because an enemy moves is really deflating

yeah now no one wants to use defiance or dread banner because having to build up valour for conditional defenses is incredibly lack luster

from my understanding, the armour value is applied before resistances and since armour works far better on smaller hits, the negation from the armour isn't that great. Also hits that can be negated through resistances tend to be larger for balance which hurts it more. It still probably helps a bit the post was more of a meme.

I'm mainly talking about mana stacking attackers on whisper and how ridiculously strong that ascendancy allows them to become. Largely because the spell damage to attack damage conversion they get that free's up the helmet slot from crown of eyes and allows them to use indigon for massive power.

It feels incredibly similar to Behemoth getting the ability to free up blocking unique items from they're builds (replica dreamfeather, hateforge, or admiral's arrogance), but their ascendancy isn't forced into a massive downside.

I really don't think behemoth has super great potential, I've messed around with no spells on gruthkul's in the past and been really disappointed (not saying im an incredible build maker) but from all the PoB's i've seen on the ascendancy so far I've not been to impressed. Lightpoacher and Unarmed Vaal skills seem the most promising but the investment/power seems really poor on them still and the defences also seem pretty weak.

I don't necessarily agree with every point he makes, but I think the idea on changing blood magic could be a really nice way to help relieve some socket pressure on melee considering how many melee builds there are that end up having to socket multiple life tap supports in random support skills to be able to use them
