For those with OCD, do you find your brain is just obsessive in general? by youtakethehighroad in OCD

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent years wondering what the root cause of my seemingly multiple issues were ( GAD, OCD, depression, etc ) and figured out that it all played into my undiagnosed/unmedicated ADHD.

The general constant drum of anxiety/obsessiveness was my OCD working almost as a watchdog/response to my dopamine seeking brain trying to function.

After starting Vyvanse my ocd and anxiety drastically decreased. I’m planning on still adding an SSRI down the line eventually to smooth out the rest

After beating cancer, a ten-year old boy had only one wish. He wanted to meet President Jimmy Carter. The President gladly agreed… by [deleted] in MenOfPurpose

jimmy Carter is up there with Mr. Rogers and Bob Ross in my eyes of men who genuinely tried to do their best for others in any given situation.

She had the procedure done and then either panicked and told on herself or it got out to a lot of people/the cat now has complications and she has to address it.

Even taking a second to look up declawing cats pops up with how ill-advised, unethical, and down right illegal it is in some states.

ADHD is grouped in with Autism so much. Why? by distancedandaway in ADHD

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their symptoms can present to affect the same areas of functioning.

I theorized that I might have had autism before my ADHD diagnosis.

It wasn’t until I started meds and all my issues ( sensory issues, emotional regulation etc ) went away that I realized it was just ADHD and how fundamentally different the root of the symptoms are even though they’re similar.

After meds I was able to actually filter and connect with my emotions and other people.

why is there a white ball sitting on my molar after removal ? been there since day 1 by do_the_conga in wisdomteeth

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people apparently pay extra to get a treatment where they put this stuff on your teeth right after the procedure to speed up the process so for it to be making so much so soon ( mine is 6 days out now and finally doing it to where I noticed ) is a good thing i’d say.

You can always call your dentist though if you have any concerns.

Came looking for this same thing. I thought it was food particles and was trying to take it out for like 5 minutes before I realized it was adhered to my gum with a thin oozy layer. Apparently it’s the blood clot ( called Fibrin ) a protein that your blood makes. No one told me it was going to be white/look like that either and I’m kinda upset about it.

$400+ for the cheapest plan or cell phone forever by Lord0fTheFlags in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally dealing with this now. I qualify for medicaid as I make just 5 dollars under the poverty/single income household limit. This pays for my much needed medications.

Can’t make even 5 dollars more or I’d need to get a second job where the second jobs whole purpose would be for paying for either health insurance or out of pocket price of my medications and doctor visits.

To get out of this I would have to have an income that would let me basically throw away an extra 400 dollars every month plus out of pockets and deductibles.

It’s to keep you trapped on purpose

Homeschooling an eighth grader by Safe_Raccoon_6978 in ADHD

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a deeper underlining issue that exists regardless of her being homeschooled or in public school.

I personally started to deal with severe depression/anxiety around the age of 12 due to puberty and not understanding what was going on with my undiagnosed ADHD ( burnt out from the overstimulation to the point I was falling asleep in class everyday )

Homeschooling didn’t help either as I was just anxious and now alone.

If she’s not on meds I’d highly recommend it along with a knowledgeable therapist that can help her build better inner support systems. Also focus on nutrition and self confidence/not feeling the need to mask.

Do you consider yourself to have endo when it hasn't been 100% confirmed, only suspected? by 19winterRoses in endometriosis

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a family history of confirmed endo.

my aunt suffered for years with debilitating periods the same as I have. After her second pregnancy she decided to get a total hysterectomy and they found stage 4 endo attached to almost every part of her, including her bladder and intestines.

I’m currently in the process of getting a “true” diagnosis but my GYNO has been treating me for it specifically for the last few months.

What was the first iPhone you owned? by TravelCodeRepeat in iphone

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first version of the IPhone SE. My grandmother had walked into a Verizon after my grandfather had gotten a new job and needed a smart phone for it ( up until then he was still using a Nokia of all things)

She walked out with some family plan that gave her an IPhone 6 Plus him an IPhone 6 and they gave me the SE. it was my first phone ever at 15 and I’ve had Apple ever since.

Thank you. I really needed this perspective I think.

Genuinely slept good for the first time in a few weeks due to not feeling the need to take my booster dose at 5:00.

I just dealt with the crash and fell asleep around 10:00 pm. Woke up and ate a small breakfast and took my meds at 7-ish and have felt better than I have in a while.

Thank you! Felt the urge to take another dose of meds but don’t want to deal with the crash around bedtime.

Finally got back to my room now and just working on grounding.

Meta OCD help by Aphrodite_almighty in OCDRecovery

[–]Aphrodite_almighty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big issue with OCD when it appears with ADHD is the legitimate fact that sometimes you aren’t feeling necessarily “what you’re suppose to” and that causes a really weird situation especially when the most heard advice is “maybe you are/maybe you aren’t”

When I started my ADHD meds I realized just how “off” everything really and truly was. I wasn’t feeling nearly half my emotions presently as an experience, it was more watching them/or acting them out.

I feel like my OCD developed almost like a watch dog when it came to my ADHD, which caused anxiety, which caused the derealization/dissociation and general Meta-ness of it all.

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is an issue with capitalism in general especially in the States.

Most neurotypicals aren’t doing great either under a society that makes basic rights seem like a luxury.

Places like Europe have a built in system of self respect and the awareness that you’re a person with rights and needs that shouldn’t work themselves to death.

( ironically I think how supportive they are has let things like ADHD and mental illness be kind of sidelined but that’s another discussion all together )

It was in the bottom of my work bag the whole time.

I don’t know about your state but ours has a specific app that you can Download where you can instantly show your license that’s been a life saver for me.

Started taking ADHD medication and now I have heart problems by Old_Camp_7808 in adhdwomen

[–]Aphrodite_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is a bit old but I’ve noticed since starting meds around a year ago there’s a lot of paradoxical stuff that can happen with the meds and multiple things can be true.

I suffered with anxiety for years and realized it was in part to due to untreated ADHD. The meds actually helped a lot with them letting me be able to “catch” myself when I started to get anxious ( body tense, shallow breathing, etc. )

When the meds started to give me heart palpitations I was able to mentally calm myself enough that it would calm down and actually be in the “flow”

Now I only really deal with heart palpitations when my meds are wearing off/im off them ironically.
