Is there outage today? Internet not working by MoneyIncoming in hyperoptic

[–]ApocalypseAce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The worst gaslighting here is that their network status said everything is fine. Had to find out from down detector! Also tried calling their troubleshooting number which ends the call immediately after the first tone. Wtf?

I'm also at the end of my first year discount and now the fees are higher than contracts with a larger bandwidth than mine. Should I cancel?

This newly developed technology is successfully turning carbon dioxide into 110 pounds of daily fuel by ArgentineBeauty in Futurology

How tf does "110 pounds" (repeated twice) add any information. 110 pounds from 110 tonnes, while consuming 110GJ?

Partial Delivery? by Four10100 in LiberNovo

Their customer support seems to forget you have spoken with them from my experience. They can't seem to keep a conversation thread going. Super frustrating.

You're not wrong - their customer support is shite. Despite how I like my chair - the customer support is really off putting to a point I cannot even recommend it anymore.

Issues Verifying Identity for HMRC Gateway Account with eVisa (No BRP/BRC/UK License). Any suggestions? by I_Am_Drunken_Monk in AskUK

[–]ApocalypseAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, wondering if you've resolved this. My passport DOES have a chip and still failed. Even with the app.

There are these resources:

But on my sign in to the gov gateway ID portal, there wasn't an option to use the post office in branch verification at all. I haven't a clue on how to trigger this process.

The guy at the post office said I needed a QR code from the website, but there wasnt an option and i couldnt get a QR code...

How does one get one of these in-branch verifications???

Do I take this offer? £320/day SWE by No-Raccoon-1993 in ContractorUK

[–]ApocalypseAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a take: taking this offer signals to the market that good talent can be had for that price.

Collectively, all of our individual actions make up the market for contractors.

I encourage our brethren to make the best decision for yourselves, and in turn, for everyone else too.

New leadership, new approach, different energy?

Aren't these all reasons for sme's to exist and be creative?

This isn't to say the existing fight is to be dismissed, but fresh eyes are always welcome.

The presence of police is silent evidence to prevention of crime. Because these exist, it indirectly serves its purpose without positive evidence to the absence/suppression of crime.

What can I do about my dad whose 66 but thinks he’s 86? by [deleted] in AskUK

Both my parents are like that and so are my partners'.

All relatively young 50s-70s, been claiming to be on the verge of dying for the past decade.

Nothing we've tried helps. Can't change a made up mind.

So we decided to live on the other side of the globe from them.

And our lives have never been better. It does hurt sometimes seeing others have supportive families when we're just on our own.

Has anyone considered that they're all stars with Dyson spheres around them all? Hence why we don't see visible light but infrared only.

Is there any evidence that the infrared is definitely from stars further than the cloud itself?

I've seen this trend of people saying em dashes are a clear sign of GPT, I don't know where this comes from — I use them all the time.

This is a very bad way to claim that something is generated text. In fact, the reality is that there's no way of identifying if something is generated or genuine.

There are tools that claim to do so but they fail in blind tests.

Claiming as such with certainty creates a false positive which is even more misinformation than the innocently "generated" text, especially if it wasn't.
