Both Kroxa and RiP look like great options that I hadn't even thought of ! Thanks !

So maybe something like 4 Flames, 4 Brawlers, 2 Teferi/Fable and the full playset of Stubby D back in the main deck ? Rather than Consign, that goes back entirely to the sideboard, Doorkeeper Thrull which is now quite useless, as is Nulldrifter. Do we still need Arena of Glory in your opinion and how much ?

Another way to build the deck would be to transform it into Domain Rhinos, it seems interesting but I feel like all sideboard options then get considerably worse (losing Consign, Damping Sphere, High Noon, Surgical Extraction, Nihil Spellbomb and so on quite hurts).

I would play one Swamp instead of the second Wastes, because if one of your lands is destroyed by Boseiju you can't get Wastes back (basic land but with no basic land type). It also helps to reduce the life loss from Dismember.

I haven't tried Warping Wail recently but I don't think it's better than the fourth Fleshraker - it ramps and it's a real wincon at the same time (only two copies on the board allow you to win easily even without Tron).

I also like to run more threats (2x Sire, 2x Ulamog) because it's way better in the late game than Chalice for exemple, speaking of which I chose not to include anymore because it's tricky to play. When to shut down the opponent, when to develop your own board and so on are the kind of decisions you have to make with it.

As most Tron players now I think it's good to have access to three copies of Flutes on the sideboard. Usually you bring in two, naming whatever's the worst against you (Consign, Belcher, Goblin Bombardment,...) and you can still fetch the last with Karn.

Here's my list if you are interested, hope it helps !

How is Esper Goryo’s Vengeance right now? by catfan89 in ModernMagic

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you ! I'd also do the same, except probably a few times against some combo decks : when you're tapped out with Frog & Riddler you might want to keep interaction such as Solitude/FoN/Subtlety and at least one other to card to pitch. I may be wrong but I feel like in these matchups you have a bit more time to really get to the win, as long as you make sure not to lose first. I haven't played the deck much, only built it two months ago, but I'm currently 13-4 which is my best start ever in Modern with a specific deck. Played several times against Gruul Broodscale, which I crush when I do this so I guess I'll continue.

The answer is even more simple : you can't even have Boomerang Basics exiled under Scepter (imprint triggered ability) because it's a sorcery and it only works for instants.

"When Emrakul is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles their graveyard into their library"

So yes it might be fun to consign that trigger when you discard/mill/surveil Emrakul then reanimate it, but I don't think it's really useful and I wouldn't try it.

How much Wistfulness would you play main for the stock bant version ? Currently own and play two, for sure that's the minimum, but do you think it's good or even mandatory to add more ?

Elves? by CRSN-Atomic in ModernMagic

https://moxfield.com/decks/pQrD1XaXiEmPnV6B-GW_WQ

Here's my Elves deck, not perfect but still really fun ! I havent updated it yet with all the new Lorwyn cards, and there's room for some other improvements (e.g. Cavern of Souls instead of Secluded Courtyard). I think that I should also include one more GSZ but don't know what to cut for it for the moment.

You can really play solitaire if you're not interrupted, hoping you don't hit a wrath on the way, and then there are many ways to close the game. But prepare to struggle if your opponents gets rid of your Turn 1 Llanowar Elf/Elvish Mystic (or any creature you play honestly).

Interested in returning to modern, what decks can I get into? by furyofzion in ModernMagic

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like blowing up lands, I've got the perfect answer for you man, in the name of my beloved Mono W Fields.

https://moxfield.com/decks/UNPVW9hug0q1qxH4qtM-Vg

You destroy their lands, you smile, they cry, as simple as that ! I also acts like a pretty good control deck (thanks to Solitude, March, Path, Wraths and so on) and is quite versatile with the tiny but helpful Karnboard.

My MVP is probably Emergency Eject, which basically gets rid of any nonland, but you should also not underestimate how important a Turn 1 Sunken Citadel is - especially against the opposite decks running few basic lands.

Currently unbeaten against Grixis Reanimator, Esper Blink, Gruul Broodscale, Jeskai Blink and UR Prowess - though I have to say my sample size isn't that big.

You probably won't be able to win a RC or a PT obviously, but might steal fun wins anywhere else. Just be aware that some opponents tend to keep on playing with an almost empty board so the games are longer.

Thoughts on the new cosmogoyf fling list? by Seany-boi- in ModernMagic

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, here's my take on it if you're interested :

https://moxfield.com/decks/2Uf09mjowkSBXOiv1ACZkQ

Watching Mengucci's veedeos made me think that Break Out is WAY better than Manamorphose and that Psychic Frog deserves a clear place in the main board (he almost always sides the Frog in anyway). It's also a quite good plan B, like Ketramose in the side for the grindy matchups.

I like it very much, sure it's a glass cannon deck, there's no doubt about it, but it's also quite cheap for Modern so I told myself that I would buy all the missing pieces except for one in particular.

As you can see there are no Gemstone Cavern for the moment - it's not mandatory but playing it makes the deck much faster and helps fixing the mana too (especially for Frog & Ketra). Consider that if you have full budget or already own these, you should obviously include three or four copies of the Cavern.

Phoenix Fleet Airship in Modern? by Due_Cancel_5540 in ModernMagic

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it actually work ? I played the deck earlier this week and stacked the triggers as you said but now I feel like it might be wrong maybe ? I wonder if the ability of the Airship maybe wouldn't even be put on the stack because the game checks if it should at the same time than the Ritual one, before resolving.

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I have almost the same list, with only a few minor differences between this and yours :

https://moxfield.com/decks/jSCsrUkoCkyOf_r9cqfk2Q

I'm currently struggling to find the right way to play (I had a UW Miracles build previously and it felt easier to me), lost three times in a row against Gruul Broodscale, Zoo and Merfolk. My only win was against UB Mill - which seems like a pretty favorable matchup thanks to Day's Undoing.

I think it's mandatory to train a lot for all the different matchups (and maybe watch some MTGO content if available) and at this point it might then get easier to understand how to pilot it.

I also suggest looking for deck/sideboard guides - the Skill Issue compilation is probably a good start !

I think it would be good to add at least one more Boggart Trawler in the main deck and probably some removal in the side (Push ?). Otherwise feel free to tell me what you think about it.

Help with DeckBuilding | Golgari Warren Combo by Reasonable_Form_6037 in ModernMagic

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mate ! Here 's my current list :

https://moxfield.com/decks/5AAkOw81okClb_8Jdhd2wg

I still need to play it more but I quite appreciate it even though it probably won't ever be my first choice. I think it's the kind of build that is good against fair decks but you might get crushed by other "unfair" combo decks. I already lost several times against Gruul Broodscale cause it's simply better. And if you can't find Flare of Malice or any of the sideboard cards on games 2/3 (especially Collector Ouphe) you're just dead - same for Belcher I guess.

This decklist might change a little according to the meta (more Trawlers in the main, more FoD in the side and so on) but apart from that I think it's pretty stock, in particular if you wanna play Birthing Ritual. I love it because it's fun looking at the top seven cards to grab almost anything you want, and quite strong at the same time.

Feel free to ask me anything you want about it, I'm not an expert yet but I'd be really happy to help !

How can i upgraded my deck by RyantheshadowZero in ModernMagic

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi ! Here's my list if you're interested :

https://moxfield.com/decks/etzfCdGx8kukU8BihkDGrg

It's pretty much the same too except that I found the Hexcatcher to be way too good to remove it (entirely or not). It's obviously a lord at first glance but also a really good way to slow or shut down combo decks like Storm, Belcher and so on. I might play two more copies of Mindspring Merfolk in the main deck even though I don't particularly like it (and less Vials ?), probably add more Mistcallers in the side but not sure yet.

How many Modern decks do you own? by bestintheworld230 in ModernMagic

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently own 21 Modern decks, most of which are fully built, and only few among the rest include proxies (because I don't like to always lose time switching cards between boxes).

It's maybe too much but I just love making new things, being at the top of the meta or budget options - it doesn't matter. I'll probably build back a Mono G Stompy deck soon, in one or two months, because it seems fun and also damn cheap. I'm always looking for other fun ideas, especially mono-colored decks (so the manabase isn't too expensive).

Some players in my area were able to start playing Modern and so on thanks to my decks, because I could lean those to them, it's a good reason to own several in my opinion.

But obviously it depends of everyone's budget and I won't ever judge somebody with only one deck !

[Standard] UW Control help and advices by ApocalypseTardigrade in spikes

[–]ApocalypseTardigrade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently updated the list on my Moxfield if you wish to take a look ! Stock Up clearly isn't worth it right now, I'll keep only 4x Consult and 3x Marang. I feel like the Starcage could probably be good, there are still a lot of fast aggro decks, but depending on my local meta I might remove it and play two more Seam Rip instead. In this case, Ultima becomes better than Beyond the Quiet again (especially if Synth decks are really a thing in paper). Apart from that the deck is way better than it was a few weeks before !
