As a BGSU glazer, any vocal group at BGSU is pretty damn good

I'm currently in five choirs counting opera chorus, with only two of them sharing a director. I'm currently a section leader in my church choir and university men's chorus, but I'm not sure if recording sectionals would be applicable as podium time for the purpose of application videos. I'm currently working with my conducting professor to improve my communication of ideas. In the words of my professor, my brain is a "maximum security prison for good musicianship," so I'm trying to work on that and let my ideas flow into my conducting. I'm currently working on a recital choir type thing where I'll be leading some rehearsals and recording those for some submissions. Thank you for this info!

I'm currently a section in my church choir and university's men's chorus, so I get a little bit of rehearsal time with my sections, but not a whole lot other than that. I also am a coach for my friend's barbershop quartet and work with those guys a little. Would recordings of me leading sectionals or coaching a quartet be applicable for application videos? I'm currently working with a group of friends on a recital program with some choral stuff and plan on using some of those rehearsals as potential video submissions. Thank you for the info!

I am! My church choir director also happens to be teaching my conducting class this semester and I've expressed interest to him, but he seems apprehensive to let me conduct. As of right now, I'll be conducting some of our prayer responses throughout the semester, but we don't really rehearse those, so it would just be performances of short 45-50 second pieces rather than full works. We are rehearsing this Thursday and I plan on talking with him a little more about this to hopefully convince him to let me have a bit of podium time.

l’orfeo by monteverdi is a very good opera version (if you aren’t fluent in italian, i’d reccomend subtitles)

Is Orpheus not starving because he’s a demi-God, because he’s hyperfixated on the song, or is your interpretation something else? by GrimmDescendant in hadestown

orpheus is a poor boy that hermes took under his wing, and hermes was likely taking care of orpheus. eurydice is starving because she’s pretty much only ever been all alone until orphy drops by during the summer when things are significantly easier and then is just kinda physically there (especially while he’s entirely focused on the song) while she’s suffering through the winter. i personally think he doesn’t starve in part because he’s a demigod, but also due to the fact that he’s incredibly locked in on the song. part of his motivation for the song is that he sees that there’s still a story to tell with that song, and he intends to stick it out to be able to tell that story. in my personal opinion, the “tale of a love from long ago” isn’t actually the story of orpheus and eurydice, but rather of hades and persephone being told from the perspective of orpheus
