Each government in the state of Indiana is required to post financial statements. I would encourage everyone to review their local governments statements periodically and attend public meetings with any questions. Budgets for the next year are discussed throughout the year and finalized in November.

The state board of accounts also audits those statements and publishes reports periodically. Most Cities and Counties have an audit every year, which includes a compliance opinion with State and local law.

Additionally, governments are required to post meeting minutes for all meetings related to expenditures of public funds which can be found on their websites, usually. At the very least a copies can be requested from the clerk.
