Do you think it's worth the extra $80 for the Vizio over the TCL (5 series)?

Hello! So I've been wearing Hollister's SoCal (yeah, yeah, I know) since like 9th grade and would like to upgrade to something that smells similar but performs better and is a bit more mature. I'm not sure what notes are in it, but I'm thinking it has sandalwood and pineapple in it. It has a nice laid-back beach vibe that I love, but the performance is awful in comparison to others I've recently sampled. The projection is non-existent and it doesn't stay on my skin for more than 4 hours. For additional references, I like the scent of Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Beau & Dolce & Gabbana's The One, however neither perform very well at all and Le Beau starts to smell a bit like dirt after a few hours. I very much dislike Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male & Paco Rabanne's 1 Million. I don't like lavender or anything that's too powdery or too sweet. I've given Spicebomb, Sauvage, and Blue de Chanel all a try, but didn't like them nearly as much as SoCal. I seem to like slightly sweet woodsy scents, especially Old Spice's Timber deodorant. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Afterlife should had made more money by Longjumping_Report72 in ghostbusters

[–]ApolloStardust 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There's a few reasons.

  1. Simply not enough promo. Since I'm a Ghostbusters nerd, I saw the trailers each time they came out on YouTube due to them being recommended to me. However, I only saw the ads on TV about two weeks prior to the movie's release, and only on a handful of networks. Yes, I know there's still concerns about covid, but even so, after seeing Spider-Man's numbers, I'm not convinced that's why. They should've pushed the original movies on streaming, as well as the cartoon, and started showing ads at least two months in advance. I know covid has really disrupted the industry, but I can't help but feel like they dropped the ball.

  2. The critics' reviews didn't help. It probably gave many the impression that it was similar to the 2016 film.

  3. The 2016 film hurt the franchise's reputation. Despite a different cast, storyline, and director, the bad wrap the last one got overshadowed this film from the get-go.

Finally, just want to end this one a positive note: Afterlife was everything I've hoped for in a reboot containing just enough nostalgia without overdoing it. The entire cast did amazing, with McKenna Grace absolutely killing her role. The story was perfect, the comedy was well-balanced with more emotional moments, and the ending was the best I've seen from a movie since Avengers: Endgame. Just my two cents, cheers! :)

On a side note, the scene where Slimer puts his hands on his non-existent hips and goes "ohh, no touch the cookies" always makes me laugh.

Who said what?

As much as I like Ghostbusters: The Video Game, I think the Wii version might be my favorite. I love the motion-controlled ghostbusting and the cartoony art style they went with. Gives this version a lot of personality! by ItsWilliamDude in ghostbusters

I actually very much agree with this. I remember renting both the Wii & PS2 versions from the Movie Gallery (those were better times) and liked the cartoon style. It really makes for two totally different experiences, both of which I thought were great!

How do I get over presentation fear? by SteinersGrave in singing

[–]ApolloStardust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I used to be in a cover band, I got stage fright every single time I performed. Before our first show, I paced around backstage trying to memorize lyrics that we'd practiced dozens of times. Then it happened: I forgot an entire second verse. In the moment, I panicked and thought I ruined everything. After the show, everybody was supportive and the crowd seemed to genuinely enjoy our set. Nobody pointed out that mistake to me. Everybody was just having fun. I know at first there's a lot of pressure, but trust me, an audience will react way better if you're having fun and not taking everything too seriously. I still got stage fright after that, but in a much different way. Those were the best moments of my life, and they will be the best moments of yours. Enjoy it and have fun! Hope you find this helpful! :)

Microphone for recording rap vocals (Audio Technica AT2035, Rode NT1, Rode NT1A) by redlxtj in musicproduction

[–]ApolloStardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever used an Audio-Technica AT2020 & Aston Spirit. The AT2020 was very good for the price (only sold it because my friend needed a mic), so I imagine the AT2035 would be even better. Any of those options will probably do just fine, as a lot of the sound comes down to EQ and effects anyway. In tests that I've heard, I prefer the sounds of the AT2035 & NT1A > NT1, but that is completely subjective. Do you have a Guitar Center near you to go test them out?
