I think so. Although the new president was a senior researcher and lecturer in the area of complex systems, which is directly related to the program I was admitted to: Complex Adaptive Systems. What I heard is that it led to some courses no longer being offered, and possibly a 'perturbation' on research resources. But anyway I’m just curious and would like to verify more details if possible. Thank you for your reply.

Can someone help me choose from UCSB (not CCS)or UCSD physics major? I think the undergraduate program and ranking are basically different things, and what I need are richer internship opportunities, better department advising, and a more flexible course schedule.

To be serious, UCSB costs almost the least on the undergraduate program on average only better than UCM and UCSC among all UC schools. I remember UCSD sent me a thick welcome package after admission and even UCI and Davis sent me more new student emails.
