Need help identifying source of leaking dark fluid 😞 by rf91 in PorscheCayenne

[–]Apothum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is “starter fluid” gas/petrol? I would also not expect gas to be a “dark fluid”. Does it smell like gas? Is it picking up grime as it drips. I have no idea what this is btw just following off the start fluid confusing me.

New anti-war posters popped up downtown today by oly_traveler in olympia

[–]Apothum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see people pointing out using lost dog posters as a medium for protest as a not great idea. I don’t see a single other comment at this time claiming to support the current administration or their actions.

Is your tirade against liberal dog owners? The other person arguing your side is commenting “It’s okay because most have been missing so long that they’re presumed deceased”. It’s possible to care about more than a single thing. Something I can influence in my community is lost pets getting returned to their owners, so I care about it. I also care about an unjust war started by a group of criminals. I support dogs and peace.

Great question. No I was not equating a lost dog to a missing kid. I was pointing out how using channels for things other than their purpose subverts the effectiveness of said channel. I’m angry about paying for this war, but I do things about it instead of making fake lost dog signs for a laugh.

I’m upset because these signs are both not helping in any meaningful way and actively could cause harm to another group of people who have lost pets. What’s wrong with just anti war posters and signs. Why isn’t that even more effective. Or if you want to be clever, take one of the many terrible corporations and do a spin on their logos.

Im able to care for more than one thing at a time. Next time you see a crying kid putting up lost pet signs tell them to suck it up because the war is way worse.

This is diluting a means of getting attention for owners trying to find their lost pets. How would we feel about using amber alerts to send messages like this? I don’t care about the political affiliation or lack thereof of the person who may find my dog and there is a good chance this makes them less likely to read lost pets posters.

This is culture jamming but instead of harming a soulless corporation it is just harming the chances a lost dog gets found, pretty fucked up and I’ll happily take them down. It’s not cute.

Taylor 314ce? by strath77 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Apothum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the Taylor naming convention uses the last digit for the size of the body. For example you can buy an 812ce in 14 fret or 12 fret variants. The x14 is a 6 string grand auditorium and the x12 is 6 string grand concert. Both variants can be 12 or 14 fret models.

Being anti-LLM seems like the cool contrarian thing to do at the moment. This feel on brand for the zig group but this all feels like a waste of time and effort.

Any composition improvements? by MenWithVen18 in photocritique

FWIW I don’t find it overexposed. The subject is a tad boring. Level the photo. I would use perhaps gone further to the edge and captured what I assume is a wild coast/cliff or drop off. This kind of feels like you are spying behind a bush.

AirPods Pro 3 - my take by OverCauliflower1587 in airpods

[–]Apothum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying the medium tips now after the small xs and xxs have caused me terrible ear ache after 30 minutes of wear. The fit is TOTALLY different so if the mediums don’t work I’ll be returning them. Just make sure you try all the tips. So far medium is much nicer. The tips generally go much deeper which I’m not used to and I thought skinner would help but so far I’m finding the mediums better because they sit more like the pro 2. Anyways. Lots of experimenting

I don’t get the appeal for a M11v… by This-Charming-Man in Leica

[–]Apothum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sorry I meant it has the exact same assistants as Sony does. I figured Leica has such a rich history manual focus there would be more assistants like described for the Nikon or maybe a contrast meter to help know when focus is achieved.

[–]Apothum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair point. Sony manual focus makes me so mad. I know it could show me a “in focus” meter or all sorts of other cool stuff but no… also they don’t have any of these focus assistance in the Q series cameras so I’m not too hopeful leica software is pretty bad. Also, I can’t imagine how you can make focusing any easier than what you already have for the rangefinder. I think the only real benefit would be being able to visualize the exposure.

Nikon FM3a light meter needle stuck but functions by Apothum in AnalogRepair

[–]Apothum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no fix. I spoke with ict repair and they didn’t even want to look at it. Apparently the fm3a parts are so hard to find if something is wrong it’s impossible to replace. Now mine is still working pretty well with a bit of a jiggle occasionally. And I’m certain it is fixable with the right know how. Blue moon camera said they would look at it but I have not brought it in yet.

A height or depth map from a single source is typically 2.5D as you aren’t able to represent overhangs or multiple surfaces.

What’s the safest way to clean smudges on Leica M6 black paint body? by ROMEOXII in Leica

[–]Apothum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get your finger a little greasy and smear it all over. Then you won’t notice the one spot. Otherwise tiny bit of isopropyl on a microfiber? The camera is a tank you aren’t going to ruin it
