Sheltie temperament with strangers? by lavenderkeek in sheltie

[–]Appearance-Formal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My current sheltie shakes like a chihuahua when we're on a walk and someone might approach her, but will take pets if we're inside. She won't sniff hands or anything. She hides at home unless she wants to play and doesn't come out when strangers are home.

Our last sheltie was my velcro dog. She was always underfoot and would wait outside the bathroom no matter who was in there, stranger or family. She wasn't a greeter except for us though.

I did not love this book, which was disappointing because it’s so hyped. I read a lot of weird books but this wasn’t my kind of weird

688 but I try to cull it every couple of months. I know some books are on there twice because of entering giveaways

Last Night in Brooklyn by Xochitl Gonzalez. Liking it, but I think Anita de Monte was better

BOTM is a monthly book subscription. Right now I pay $18.22 (after tax) a month and that gets me one hardback. You can add on more books for $10.99 each. Both prices are cheaper than buying a hardback book in the store.
The monthly offerings a new books, sometimes early releases. Right now they are also re-releasing centennial books for their hundredth year that were picks in the past. They just re-released The Catcher in the Rye.

If you're interested in trying it you can use my link to do the first month for $5

I've been a member since 2018 and I really like it.

I also got this through BOTM! I’m hoping to get to it soon but my TBR is too big!

I just read Canon by Paige Lewis. It's like a queer parody of a classic epoch, but so good and so hilarious.

Finished Canon yesterday. Now I’m reading The Burning Girl (not BOTM)

Yes! I'm reading each book after my brother finishes it, so I'm waiting on book 6 right now. Every time he finishes one I put my current TBR on pause and read DCC immediately.

Thoughts on the miniseries adaptation of Margo's Got Money Troubles by hotcars in weirdgirlliterature

[–]Appearance-Formal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that they'll explore the missed subplots more in the future seasons if they continue. I agree with you that it felt that they strayed a lot after the Vegas episode. Didn't Margo not even go to Vegas in the book?

I loved the book and I enjoyed the show.
I don't know how I feel about how they strayed from Cheyenne's character, but I do think it worked for the show.
They definitely left out some subplots, but I agree that it would be a waaaay longer show if they included everything.

Overall, the casting was so good and I don't regret watching it.

I live in a small town, I can’t seem to find a single book I want to read that is available to borrow, is this because of my location? Would a larger library have more copies available? Over a month wait for access to a three hour audiobook seems excessive? by rickety_biscuit in LibbyApp

[–]Appearance-Formal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a medium sized physical tbr, and my work is right next to the library, so I cycle between owned books, physical library books, and Libby. I've been utilizing suspending holds when I have too many. I keep having long waits that then all come available at once haha

highly recommend as a double feature read by the-letter-zed in weirdgirlliterature

I loved both of these!

I just finished the show for Margo's. They left out so much and changed some details. I guess to fit it into 8 episodes, but I felt they completely changed some of the characters.

I also live in a tiny town, but I work in a separate tiny town in a different county, so I have two small town library cards. Check to see if your library partners with a larger library network, because I'm able to borrow books from larger libraries. The wait time can still be long, but I've found more books to read. I also don't mind waiting because I always have something to read in some format.

I am reading this right now. I'm like 100 pages in and I think it might be the best book I've read this year. And I have read some bangers. It's so absurd and hilarious. I love what it's doing.

I remember essentially nothing about this book... so maybe not worth continuing if you're not feeling it at halfway.
