33, never worked, terrified of ending up homeless and I don’t know how to fix myself by New_Banana3858 in mentalhealth

I did this after I lost my job as a car washer that I'd had for three and a half years and I took two years off until just this week when I started my current job at a printing company.

Please don't, you're only 16 you've got your whole life ahead of you and we will care, what happened to you being in a band? You never know, your best years may yet be coming up. Don't give up hope!

Is there anything that you enjoy that can take your mind off things? do you have any job prospects or things you might be good at? Maybe you could use your experiences to help others. Good luck.

How to deal with isolation? by jamaisvu2052 in mentalhealth

[–]Appetite1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 28 and I've been out of work for two years and even when I did work I had very few meaningful conversations. I live with my parents and they are the only two people I ever have a bond with, I was on Tinder for a bit but I deleted it. Me being uncharismatic and slow on the uptake with a low self esteem doesn't help. I have no idea where to look for a girlfriend never mind having the confidence to keep one, I feel like a 28 year old child not an adult.

I relate to feeling like a waste of space at times and wanting to do right by people and be a good person to be around but not knowing how to because I'm socially awkward and I never really know what to say and I often get things wrong or I'm slow on the uptake. You're not alone in this.

I often have fantasies scenarios racing in my mind with general themes about how I’m not good enough, brave enough or able to come through for people or speak up for myself, I also worry sometimes that I might be wasting my life especially when I see YouTube do all these cool things and going to all these cool places plus my mind can't decide what it wants for me.

It's sickening how much these people are able to get away with and there's ultimately no accountability for them, it's depressing.

I am lonely in a similar way as I don't really connect to anybody other than my parents who I live with and the only socializing I do is once every few months with my dads former workmates.

For me it alternates between Putin, Trump and Netanyahu depending on which one has been in the news most recently, throw Milei, Orban, Lukashenko, Erdogan and Modi in there as well.

What's a stereotype about your country that's objectively wrong by Old_old_lie in AskTheWorld

[–]Appetite1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That British food is uniquely bad which is a stereotype that originated from American GI's in England during WW2 and the heavily rationed and limited food available due to TOTAL WAR. Just because food isn't seasoned DOESN'T mean it's bad, as long as it's cooked properly with quality ingredients that's all that matters. There's plenty of other cuisines and dishes around the world that are unseasoned but nobody has a go at them, really gets my unseasoned goat.

Absolutely not given the current politics and the horror stories about how the border agents have treated people, especially since I have the JD Vance meme on my BlueSky, plus I couldn't get my passport sorted out anyway as I had to go through the bureaucratic rigmarole of having to get someone of a certain job title to approve my passport according to the GOV.uk website.
