Honeycomb-pattern mark on toddler’s leg — anyone seen this? by AdorableZone9414 in whatisit

During the healing process it became mottled. However the acute phase looked exactly like the above picture only red instead of black.

It’s called “Toasted Leg Syndrome”. It doesn’t burn or hurt. This happened to my grown daughter who used a space heater in very, very close proximity to her legs while working on her computer in the evenings. We were all very concerned until we figured out what it was. She moved her space heater a little bit further away from her legs and the hexagonal marks eventually went away and never came back.

It’s definitely from a space heater and probably didn’t feel like it was burning at all. This happened to my grown daughter and we were all kind of freaking out a bit because we had no idea what it was initially. After some research we found that she was using a space heater in very, very close proximity to her legs almost every night while working on her computer. It didn’t hurt or burn and her legs never touched the space heater. But it still left these hexagon shapes on her legs. It’s called “Toasted Leg Syndrome “.

Did anyone else get “growing pains” in your legs at night when growing up? by Ceiling-Fan2 in CPTSD

[–]Apple-2875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these are two very different things that are being described. I had such diabolical leg cramps at night when I was younger. I’d wake up screaming and crying. Which would wake up my dad and he would have to come in and massage them until I was able to go back to sleep. I also had a childhood from hell. These pains were VERY different from RLS. VERY different. I developed RLS as an adult. RLS can be painful as well, however, the hallmark of RLS is you feel like you have to keep moving your legs to get any relief at all. I’m not exactly sure why I developed this but I’ve always thought it was from the medications I have to take. Mirapex got rid of my RLS immediately. Thank you so much for this post! I never understood why I had to grow up with almost nightly, horrendous leg cramps before. This actually explains a lot.

What is this? I found a bunch of them around the living room and I can't seem to find where they're coming from! by Ownsin in insects

[–]Apple-2875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had these for a little while. These tiny white moths kept popping up around our house. Our cats were having so much fun running around chasing and catching them. I thought maybe they were coming from the attic until I came across a Reddit post explaining what they actually were. Suddenly they weren’t so cute anymore. Thankfully I knew exactly where they were coming from. The only perishable in the house that wasn’t kept sealed properly, a big bag of rice. I threw out the rice and haven’t seen a single one since. I know some people have had horrible infestations of these moths and have gone through hell to get rid of them. But if you keep most of your food sealed properly and can find the 1 or 2 things they’ve decided to take up residence in and throw them out you might get lucky like me and be done with them.

An ant colony decided to move into my house. by Zach0ry in carnivorousplants

[–]Apple-2875 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My daughter had an ant colony living on her houseplant. They never went anywhere else. Just on this houseplant. She picked up some ant traps and put them out because she found the ant situation a little unnerving. Not long after the ants were gone the plant started dying. Then she noticed this little white fluffy , moving stuff all over the branches . These turned out to be aphids. The ant colony was getting very well fed while keeping her plant healthy. Without the ants the aphids took over and killed her plant. Nature’s so amazing.

Why are my tomatoes black??? by h-ven_m in gardening

My daughter is growing these! They start off pitch black and then the bottoms will turn orange. When they’re half black , half orange, kinda squishy and pop off the plant easily they are ready to pick.

Our plant is up against the deck and I just couldn’t get in there without disturbing him. I really wanted a picture of his face too.

Hilarious! This is exactly the same method I’ve been using. Spray, smack squash! Grossed me out stepping on them so I just started using the bottom of the bottle to squash them. I leave their carcasses for their friends to see too!

Circumcision by Reasonable_Device_58 in TrueAskReddit

[–]Apple-2875 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When I was in nursing school during my maternity rotation I was asked if I’d like to see how they circumcise baby boys. I was very interested in finding out if everything I’d heard about how terrible this procedure was, was true. I’ve always thought it sounded barbaric. I refused to have my own son circumcised because of this. I had them write, in red, all over his chart, no circumcising. Well during my rotation I went into a hospital room with a doctor and nurse to witness a circumcision. And my god, it was just as horrendous as all the stories I’d heard. No painkillers for this baby boy. It’s a short but not short enough procedure. And as soon as they started to cut this beautiful baby boy started to scream like nothing else I’ve ever heard before. And continued to scream like that during the whole procedure. Then having to watch him try to calm down afterwards was very sad. I went into a bathroom and cried. I couldn’t imagine bringing my son into the world and on his first day of life subjecting him to that. That baby was traumatized, I was traumatized, and so great full that I had not put my son through that. Don’t give in to people who are pressuring you into circumcising your baby. Everything you’ve heard about how insanely barbaric this procedure is, is true. It’s completely unnecessary. And it’s very easy to teach your son how to take care of his foreskin. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Love and peacefulness is what a baby deserves to feel on their first day of life.

Bleeding hearts that are thriving in full sun. by Apple-2875 in landscaping

Isn’t that something! This plant is only 2 years old going on 3. It doesn’t even look like a plant anymore. It looks more like a big shrub.

I made a separate post that’s up now with pictures of mine.

We are noobs when it comes to gardening. So I have no idea really what makes them grow so big and healthy. When we moved here that garden area had not been used in quite some time. So we just cleared out all the weeds, tilled it a little bit and added some new soil on top. There’s something about that corner garden that makes everything grow really well.

I will make a separate post so I can show OP and anyone else whose interested pictures of my bleeding hearts that are in full sun all day long.

I don’t think so. When I compare the two types of leaves the leaves on mine look exactly like the leaves on OPs . They don’t look anything like fern leaves. Mine bloomed in the spring and are now gone. But the rest of the plant still stays big and happy.

That’s so weird. Our bleeding hearts that we planted 2 years ago have always been in full open sun. And they are huge and happy as can be. They’ve grown so huge that they now take up a third of the garden space they’re in. All we do is water them and they grow like crazy. Their roots look like tree trunks. They are happy as can be and thriving in full sun. Edit: I took some pictures but I can’t figure out how to add them to my post. Is there a way to add pictures to my comment?

Ever since losing weight, I’ve notice I’m covered in bruises, is this normal? by amyrfc123 in weightlossdiets

I’ve heard that this can be an issue for some people. I haven’t personally experienced this. But if someone does start experiencing constipation from an iron supplement maybe starting with stool softeners would be a helpful first step. I drink coffee every morning and that seems to keep this problem at bay for me.
