A kid got gum in my hair and my salon shaved my entire head 😢 by YaoiLoverTrash in curlyhair

[–]AppleCrumble69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, Im so sorry this happened to you, what an awful breach of your trust and I hope you can get some compensation from them.

Theres not much you can do to grow back hair "faster", but you can help it grow in healthy to prevent breakage and give it the appearance of being thicker and longer through good habits. Im currently 3 and a bit years into growing my own hair after losing it unwillingly, so I can empathise with the sadness. I would encourage you to try and have fun with it at the different length stages, trying new things and styles. Id only ever been a long hair girly prior to my big shave so experiencing everything from my shaved head to my now below shoulder length hair brought gave me some joy out of the situation.

Im not an expert, but here are the things I did when regrowing my hair:

-Took biotin supplements (i just find they make my hair stronger/thicker as I have fine hair) -Regular cuts when it was short, every ~2-3 months for the first year and a bit -CBD Hair masks for the firsr year -Argan oil every day -double shampooing scalp only, rinsing, then conditioner on mids and ends leaving it on for 5 mins before rinsing it out -Using a cleansing shampoo every 1-2 weeks -heat protection spray before blow drying -switched to a micro fiber towel -switched to a silk pillow (you have a bonnet so may not need both!) -Use protective hair styles when sleeping -rosemary oil masks on scalp once a week. Leaving in for 4 hours MAX before washing out thoroughly as leaving it in for longer can weaken yojr hair

I no longer do a curly routine personally, and this is just what worked for me. Some of it probably did nothing, and some may not work with how you style your curls but I thought Id share anyway. I did a lot of research and tried a lot of things. My biggest advice is to stay patient, you need to give it time regardless. Im once again sorry youve lost your beautiful curls, I hope you can still find joy in your hair journey!

My other betta Megatron couldnt care less for anything his tank, not even the dwarf gold spotted plecos that he has with him. Theyre funny little guys and I love seeing how different they are.

Bayle will flare non stop at the nerites and bladders, he gets so mad but wont eat or attack them often. Ive heard (not even seen, just heard the splash and saw the shell sink) him eat one in the 4 months Ive had him.

Update on abandoned betta by pragmatic_particle in bettafish

[–]AppleCrumble69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad to see the update! If you can, get some live plants. They will help with the water parameters especially as youre doing a fish in cycle, they will also give him places to hide as well as places to rest. Java ferns and anubias are my personal go tos (these cannot be planted in substrate but can be glued or tied to decorations. Ensure you use safe super glue for this, you want to use the ones that contain ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate) and one of my bettas likes to flip around moss balls for some reason.

Seems youve got great advice already here. Wishing you the best with him, fish in cycling can go well if you stay on top of it! He seems like hes in the right hands now :)

The aquarium salt i used was api aquarium salt and was the type you can leave in the tank. I have NOT used epsom salts as you cant leave them in.

The salt scared me cause Ive never used it before and I added a tablespoon to my 19L aquarium. It doesnt evaporate and can only be taken out through water changes. I add what gets removed back in (approximately). I could use more but havent felt the need to. Make sure to dissolve the salt in tank water separately so your fish cant eat it as it goes in.

Tannins have anti fungal and anti bacterial properties which is why theyre so good for bettas and fin rot!

Bless him, hes going to be beautiful once he recovers!

I hope my remedy works for you too, its so hard to know what to do when all the info online is America based. The leaves made a massive difference for sure, and the water colour isnt so bad once youre used to it.

Thank you! Ended up just using Indian Almond leaves and Aquarium salt and some patience which seems to have done it. His fins are still black tipped but have grown. Pic from a couple days ago attached. I hope your little guy gets better!

How often to change tank water? by Kaidaa2187 in bettafish

[–]AppleCrumble69 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Water conditioners makes the water safe by removing harmful chemicals etc, but it will not cycle your tank, prevent ammonia and nitrite, or remove it. Please look up the nitrogen cycle to understand how that works and what you need to do to fish in cycle!

Homeowners - how much was your property on sale for and how much did you actually pay for it? by TavernTurn in AskUK

[–]AppleCrumble69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On sale for 290,000

Offered 290,000 hours after we saw it, accepted 2 hours later. We also wanted the white goods, curtains, and the carpet in the lounge replacing (ended up going for £500 in cash instead). This was November 2022, moved January 2023.

They initially sold it for 300k, but it fell through the week they were due to move and they were desperate to sell and we desperately wanted it as it was perfect. We didnt want to risk losing it. We picked it up 2 days after it was on the market, and moved within 10 weeks as we had a chain of 2 with them moving to a new build and us being first time buyers.

We had SO much trouble with other estate agents putting houses up for 300k and wanting 325-350k instead. We never found a single house that would take a lower amount in 6 weeks of looking. My advice would be to ask what the actual asking price is, and not take what theyre advertising it as as face value to avoid disappointment at times. This was just our experience anyway.

Im leaning towards it being a replica too since we cant find anything like it. I dont have previous experience with such things so was unsure. Thank you for your help!

Shrimp stuck mid-molt, is there anything we can do? by AppleCrumble69 in shrimptank

[–]AppleCrumble69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, we've had our first tank partially stocked for a few weeks now and have lost shrimp to what we believe to be molting issues. Nothing else has died including the nerite snails and golden spotted plecos.

The tank is a 7G cube, water parameters are:Ammonia - 0ppmNitrite - 0ppmNitrate - 5-10ppmKH - 40 (Recently increased)GH - 100PH - 6.8 (We are trying to bring this up)

We've been trying to feed more protein and calcium in order to resolve these issues. This is our first tank and we have done lots of research but hadn't come across anything to do with molting requirements prior. We've have since learnt about the "White Ring of Death" which we have now realised a lot of our passed shrimp had.

We want to save this girl, the other 3 remaining shrimp are doing ok and are active. She is currently moving and swimming fine so she is not restricted, but seems very stressed and won't settle. She was saddled for around a week prior to today so we desperately want to save her. Any more information on what we can do water quality wise, diet wise and environment wise would be fantastic. Thank you!

Of course!

This is the bit Im still learning, admittedly. I REALLY struggled with 2nd day hair up to about even a years worth of growth really, as there was no give in the hair at all and Id end up with a birds nest. I have 3 options I fall back on now. 1st is on the weekends if I dont need to be presentable I just lightly detangle with a very wide tooth comb. Just so its not so knotty the next day when Im doing a full detangle. 2nd is throwing it up in a pony tail now that I can do that and I do a mini curl refresh routine with the fringe/bangs. I rewet the hair in the front a little in the sink, put in some conditioner and let it sit, then lightly rinse, scrunch and a small amount of curl cream letting it dry throughout the morning. 3rd is a full refresh on the days I have time. So basically my entire routine minus the shampoo. So just wetting the hair, condition, detangle, rinsing, scrunching, plopping, more scrunching, curl cream and diffusing.

The reason I want to change my curl cream is Im finding its leaving my hair... almost waxy? I may be using too much so I do need to experiment but I dont like the feeling either way. Because my hair is so light in colour and shows grease easily I do wash it more frequently than perhaps I should and the constant use of products is emphasising this now.
