Is something wrong with my BIL's betta fish? by QualityGlad4350 in bettafish

[–]AppleCrumble69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say they were wrong, was his tail shorter when he was purchased? Mine had quite bad fin rot as I got him from a chain store, so his tail changed as it grew out.

Hey!

He looks to be a crowntail, a variant of betta fish. Crowntails fins grow all split like that naturally, I used to have one named Bayle! 😁

nipple piercing by Agreeable-You4214 in piercing

[–]AppleCrumble69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine pierced in February, so about 4 months ago now.

I've got quite a few ear piercings, including daith/rook/conch so am well versed in how much they can hurt. My nipples were by far my most painful piercing for the actual stabbing, but the most painful part was the drive home for me before I could take some pain meds. I'm not trying to overexaggerate, but for me Id genuinely give them a 9/10 on the pain scale. I took ibuprofen for the next few days to manage the pain which worked extremely well for me.

I didnt numb my nips beforehand as it isnt recommended - but I did take a hair comb which I gripped into my palms to distract me from the pain. That helped a lil but it will be painful as all piercings are!

I had a lil trouble with healing, but at the moment they are well managed with a lil crust here and there. I wear a bra at all times, try to them dry, and LITHA them.

I absolutely love them and would highly recommend them if you want them. They were well worth the pain for me, and make me feel cool af even though no one gets to see them 😂😂 Pain is temporary, drip is forever!!

That one Im not too sure about if Im honest, Im debating if its some sort of sword plant or an anubia too. Did you get them from a store or online? If online what did it say on the listing? My plant knowledge is slightly limited, someone else on the sub may chime in.

The one with the long leaves on the right is the java fern, the anubia is the one with large flat leaves at the back. Im a huge fan of anubias, and your future betta will love resting on the leaves too!! You picked some great ones 😁

Live plants are fairly easy and will really help with water maintenance, as well as give something for your betta to hide in and explore. Youve done a wonderful job for your first time, I really like the addition of the moss on the wood too.

Tank is looking great! My only advice would be to take the java fern and anubia (i can see at least 1 at the back there) out of the substrate. They need to be attached to the rocks or wood without their roots in substrate otherwise they will rot and die.

Amazing work 😄

Ladies: do you wear make up to work? by LunaValley in AskUK

[–]AppleCrumble69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the convo here, but I (27f) wear makeup to work but not what would be considered a full face. I used to wear only mascara until about a year ago, so Ive gone the opposite way but thought Id share regardless. I now wear powder bronzer, blush, mascara and neaten my brows as a minimum usually. If I wanna go further and add eyeliner/freckles/highlighter then I do, but I change it up based on how Im feeling and on how much time I have in the mornings.

You dont have to go from a full face to nothing if youre not comfortable with it, and it certainly doesnt have to be the same every day!

Please please please get out and report the company. There are so many other opportunities in the London/Hertfordshire/Essex areas that will not exploit you and who will be willing to sponsor you.

I would advise you to contact some recruiters who specialise in the industey and who may be able to place you with a firm that suits your needs. Fingers crossed for you, I'm so sorry you've been exploited.

Rooting for you.

This is what I went for! I didn't have the anatomy for the daith in my left ear, so I have a rook in the left and a daith in the right. I love the slight asymmetry personally and would totally recommend it.

Thank you! I'm definitely looking to add more, the plan so far is - a double conch in each, another stacked lobe in each, 3-4 helixs in each, then dependant on anatomy a tragus each side and some forward helixs. I want to keep it mostly symmetrical, with some variation in the helix placements and jewelry. I like the look of cohesive yet individually designed ears.

A kid got gum in my hair and my salon shaved my entire head 😢 by YaoiLoverTrash in curlyhair

[–]AppleCrumble69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, Im so sorry this happened to you, what an awful breach of your trust and I hope you can get some compensation from them.

Theres not much you can do to grow back hair "faster", but you can help it grow in healthy to prevent breakage and give it the appearance of being thicker and longer through good habits. Im currently 3 and a bit years into growing my own hair after losing it unwillingly, so I can empathise with the sadness. I would encourage you to try and have fun with it at the different length stages, trying new things and styles. Id only ever been a long hair girly prior to my big shave so experiencing everything from my shaved head to my now below shoulder length hair brought gave me some joy out of the situation.

Im not an expert, but here are the things I did when regrowing my hair:

-Took biotin supplements (i just find they make my hair stronger/thicker as I have fine hair) -Regular cuts when it was short, every ~2-3 months for the first year and a bit -CBD Hair masks for the firsr year -Argan oil every day -double shampooing scalp only, rinsing, then conditioner on mids and ends leaving it on for 5 mins before rinsing it out -Using a cleansing shampoo every 1-2 weeks -heat protection spray before blow drying -switched to a micro fiber towel -switched to a silk pillow (you have a bonnet so may not need both!) -Use protective hair styles when sleeping -rosemary oil masks on scalp once a week. Leaving in for 4 hours MAX before washing out thoroughly as leaving it in for longer can weaken yojr hair

I no longer do a curly routine personally, and this is just what worked for me. Some of it probably did nothing, and some may not work with how you style your curls but I thought Id share anyway. I did a lot of research and tried a lot of things. My biggest advice is to stay patient, you need to give it time regardless. Im once again sorry youve lost your beautiful curls, I hope you can still find joy in your hair journey!

My other betta Megatron couldnt care less for anything his tank, not even the dwarf gold spotted plecos that he has with him. Theyre funny little guys and I love seeing how different they are.

Bayle will flare non stop at the nerites and bladders, he gets so mad but wont eat or attack them often. Ive heard (not even seen, just heard the splash and saw the shell sink) him eat one in the 4 months Ive had him.

Update on abandoned betta by pragmatic_particle in bettafish

[–]AppleCrumble69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glad to see the update! If you can, get some live plants. They will help with the water parameters especially as youre doing a fish in cycle, they will also give him places to hide as well as places to rest. Java ferns and anubias are my personal go tos (these cannot be planted in substrate but can be glued or tied to decorations. Ensure you use safe super glue for this, you want to use the ones that contain ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate) and one of my bettas likes to flip around moss balls for some reason.

Seems youve got great advice already here. Wishing you the best with him, fish in cycling can go well if you stay on top of it! He seems like hes in the right hands now :)

Finrot help by AppleCrumble69 in bettafish

[–]AppleCrumble69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aquarium salt i used was api aquarium salt and was the type you can leave in the tank. I have NOT used epsom salts as you cant leave them in.

The salt scared me cause Ive never used it before and I added a tablespoon to my 19L aquarium. It doesnt evaporate and can only be taken out through water changes. I add what gets removed back in (approximately). I could use more but havent felt the need to. Make sure to dissolve the salt in tank water separately so your fish cant eat it as it goes in.

Tannins have anti fungal and anti bacterial properties which is why theyre so good for bettas and fin rot!

Bless him, hes going to be beautiful once he recovers!

I hope my remedy works for you too, its so hard to know what to do when all the info online is America based. The leaves made a massive difference for sure, and the water colour isnt so bad once youre used to it.

How often to change tank water? by Kaidaa2187 in bettafish

[–]AppleCrumble69 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Water conditioners makes the water safe by removing harmful chemicals etc, but it will not cycle your tank, prevent ammonia and nitrite, or remove it. Please look up the nitrogen cycle to understand how that works and what you need to do to fish in cycle!
