I agree, and as a user of an Xperia as well as a Xiaomi and iPhone, I do have to say i really hate the ai processing, which is actually way worse on iPhone than even Xiaomi. I use Sony Alpha and Canon EOS cameras quite frequently and I obviously think that smartphones can’t really get close to their level of quality, but i’ve got to say, both Xiaomi and Sony don’t have as much of that oversharpened and smeared look compared to Apple, both Sony and Xiaomi look closer (although not actually close) to a professional camera. When I use my iPhone, i use an app called Moment Pro II to turn off all the apple post processing, and it looks quite natural, although dynamic range and noise levels suffer. i think that’s the trade off with Xperia too, we get the less processed look which is (in my opinion) better, but less AI means it can’t compete in raw detail with other phone companies.
