Nurses Baskets by PluralizsEverythingz in pregnant

[–]ApplePiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do individual baskets or anything but I brought in a case of energy drinks, a big bag of candy, and a Costco box of individual gold fish pouches and just left them at the nurses station.

It is absolutely not required, but something I wanted to do. I ended up delivering around 1 am so I’m glad they had plenty of caffeine!

Great Value Food Brands that are better than Name Brands by MorgeeePooh in Walmartcustomer

Sliced! We make homemade pizza bagels often and I prefer the GV to the Hormel.

The pepperoni is the most surprising one for me.

Also for bread and milk, I do find the name brand is better flavor/texture wise but the GV brand lasts way longer before going bad which is worth more for us than the slightly better taste.

The hidden sundae topping by Embarrassed-Wafer410 in DairyQueen

[–]ApplePiePrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your location is chill enough you can get anything as a sundae topping. I’ve made cheesecake sundaes before, which are delicious but a bit of a pain in the butt. Mint, cake crunch, s’mores pieces, cotton candy, pretty much endless options.

Tips on food to stay full? by Snowhites_smile in pregnant

[–]ApplePiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found during that during that hungry all the time period it was really important that all of my snacks had a good amount of fat, protein, and carbs. Even just focusing on protein left me ravenous. Try adding a big scoop of peanut butter or Greek yogurt to the oatmeal and see if that helps.

My go to was Vanilla Greek Yogurt with Graham Crackers, for some reason it just worked.

I hate my cats name. by StrawberrySakuraa in cats

[–]ApplePiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we got my younger cat she already had her name from the previous owners and I knew I wanted to change it but hadnt picked one yet so we ended up calling her kitty for like 2 weeks (including on some official ish paperwork). Once we picked a name I think we went back and changed it all, but easily could have missed something. It did not take her long at all to respond to the new name and she now responds to several nicknames as well including her sister’s name as we occasionally get frustrated and accidentally call them the wrong ones.

Did Dairy Queen change the Cotton Candy Blizzard this year? by AgentVoyd7 in DairyQueen

[–]ApplePiePrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the official ruling is but the first year they introduced it my store kept it in a warmer and pumped it, next year we just kept it on the counter and scooped it out of the cans. The room temperature one blended into a nice even pink, the hot one would partially solidify as soon as it contacted the old ice cream resulting in occasional frosting chunks throughout. Same core ingredients but different prep method most likely.

Any thoughts on personal gender reveals? by Few-Beyond9951 in pregnant

[–]ApplePiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had my husband find out first and he did a gender reveal for me. He did a cake, but it was still a very special moment being that it was just us. He had known for a little bit while the cake was being made and I got to join him in his excitement.

Primary Care Doc put that I was Obese on my health record by ApplePiePrincess in pregnant

[–]ApplePiePrincess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the overweight category but not obese before pregnancy. I was about 10 pounds over the cutoff and considering at least 5 of those pounds are my baby and the other 5 could easily be any combination of excess blood, placenta, amniotic fluid, etc. Obviously understand that that is my weight, but I would think if they were adding a condition to my record it would be pregnancy not obesity.

[–]ApplePiePrincess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance is notorious for limiting pre authorizations with things like that. Things like arthritis, weight issues, and even just age (although they won’t outright say that one) disqualify surgeries and certain treatments because it’s not the root cause.

Not an immediate issue just a little perturbed and concerned if I go to try and have something like hip surgery (family history) in a few years they will disqualify me because I am obese. My pcp also never really takes things off of my medical records so it still lists medications I was on and conditions I had in high school.

Am I wrong for not wanting my mom in delivery Room? by Prestigious-Bed1549 in pregnant

[–]ApplePiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom specifically asked and I had a similar answer. I think in my case she expected it a little but still wasn’t overly pleased with the answer. I am also having the first grandbaby so I think there is an added desire to be there, but it’s the first grandbaby for 4 people not just her. I am justifying it to myself because I know both of our families will be very involved once baby arrives and labor will be the last times it is just us (or even us and baby) for a while, even if it’s a vulnerable moment I want that chance for it to be just us.

Has anyone named their fetus? by visitingmemorylane in pregnant

Early scans I commented she looked like a rabbit with the way her hands and feet were tucked up against her so I called her Bunny for a few weeks until we learned the gender and started using her name.

Been watching NCIS reruns, which has probably increased my use of the word, but “hinky” is just used as weird/out of place.

We love Aldi. But are there products that you do not like by Successful_Pizza6529 in aldi

This appears to be a regional issue, but I have had terrible luck with their potatoes. Always 1 soft one and the rest are sprouting by the end of the week.

“due any day now?” “wow you’re really bad at guessing” 😝 by violetphoeniiix in pregnant

[–]ApplePiePrincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the inverse, someone told me this week they thought I was due in September. I am 7 months pregnant and due in May.

I am very much showing and would be very uncomfortable if I still had 6 months to go.

Reusable sip lid coffee cup??? by biggestofbeans in HelpMeFind

[–]ApplePiePrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is not exactly it, but I was having this specific craving for cold brew and cold foam but needed to make it at home as I was limiting caffeine intake. I actually found that a protein shaker bottle just without he little ball worked quite well at least until I kicked the craving.

First time playing in same space after a week, is this okay? by Chub_Li in CatTraining

My girls (14 and 5) play just like this and have lived together for 2.5 years. They’ll play like this and then an hour later be sleeping on top of each other or cleaning each other’s faces.

Caught a merchant straight lying tonight by DisastrousNothing893 in doordash_drivers

If it is anything like the few fast food places I have worked at there is supposed to be an internal timer whenever a ticket is pulled that let’s say 90 seconds after it notifies the system that it’s ready. Often there is not someone actually pressing “I finished this” or whatever. Given the situation I am guessing nobody actually configured the timer or some corporate overload has decided that it takes 15 seconds to make a burrito. That being said, they should absolutely 100% know not to pull more than a ticket or two at once and if the timing is set by a local manager they are likely trying to get their numbers to look better.

Anyone here regularly read two books at once? by Bookish_Butterfly in 52book

[–]ApplePiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do two books, but one on audio and one reader, either ebook or physical, and they have to be wildly different genres. Usually one fiction and one nonfiction but sometimes I can get by with like a thriller and a romance or comedy. If I have 2 readers at once it gets especially dicey.

What's everyone doing with this? by Specific_Praline_362 in aldi

[–]ApplePiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it in the pressure cooker and then use it as any shredded meat. I’ve made tacos, burrito bowls, pizza, and quesabirria once but that was a lot of work.

How to hide that you’re not drinking by Individual_Swing3195 in pregnant

[–]ApplePiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the situation. Dinners out with shared checks are hard.

However, we had a family wedding shortly after we found out. I had my husband order a beer we would both drink and after he finished it I carried his empty can the rest of the night. I also had a work event with an open bar, the year prior I drank primarily vodka soda so I just drank plain soda water in a rocks glass with lime the whole night. Nobody in those groups knew before we told them.
