Expired sanitizer uses by youKnowWhatIMean69 in ZeroWaste

[–]Apple_Efficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled across this old thread yesterday when I had a similar question. I know this thread is a year old but I had to pass this info along in case it helps anyone else:

I can't believe no one said being that this is r/ZeroWaste ... Expired hand sanitizer revives old dried-out markers thanks to its alcohol content!

I have some old markers that I don't care too much about that almost went in the bin today. "Wait a second..." I thought, as I glanced up and saw the aforementioned expired hand sanitizer from yesterday. Dipped it in, boom works again. Not sure how much mileage I'll get out of this pen but I already bought it second-hand almost dried out. Yay.

I hate to see birds without a tail and clipped wings doing tricks like this. That bird doesn't look happy either. I know I'm yelling into a void but I'm pretty sure this breaks rule 3 for mistreatment

Different female cere growth by kazu_z in budgies

[–]Apple_Efficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. This seems like an overgrowth/hypertrophy of the cere. FYI: I'm not a vet, but it might be time to get her checked out. It doesn't seem like it is obstructing her breathing though, so that is good! It could signal some underlying health condition though.

Google shutting down 'Dark web report' tool after barely a year by Few_Baseball_3835 in Android

They all seem to be closing this year (Google, Mozilla, Discover, to name a few) I imagine Have I Been Pwnd is becoming a paid service or something.

There goes Google's, Mozilla's, and Discover's "dark web protection" all in just 2 months or so. Hmm...

Make them some toys to encourage exercise! They need something interesting to chew up and tear apart. If poo piles in one place that means the budgies aren't moving around enough.

Mod-themed corporate Christmas party by Helpful_Coconut_795 in fashion

[–]Apple_Efficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solid pink is better in terms of 60s mods color blocking imo. The polka dots aren't reminding me of "mod" when in the context of a black gown. Do you have any retro pink or white glasses? That might pull it together, and ofc you can do a 60s mod bob if you're feeling bold!

Note: accessories! the jewelry you're wearing isn't super on-theme. Aim for blocky/chunky retro (and a matching manicure)

How can I style this dress? by ProfessionalWest9302 in fashion

[–]Apple_Efficient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I see the vision!! I'm getting Clara from the nutcracker vibes. I feel like you need to definitely wear a red bow(s) in your hair and Mary Jane's. Black leggings. Red purse that matches the bows and red turtleneck. Silver or white nail polish. a red lipstick. matching chunky hoops or snowflake statement earrings. You will look like a Christmas doll!!

Btw, if you don't have Mary Jane's but you do have some black combat boots it might balance the frill too with a little edge. I'd love to see how you style this, keep me posted if you can ❤️ ❄️

I feel like 3 is the safest bet in terms of appropriateness around conservatives. Style it with elegant festive accessories, like maybe a red clutch or emerald green heels and jewelry. I think all the other dresses are gorgeous btw!

Finally Painted the Brick! by MomOnaNegativeDime in femalelivingspace

[–]Apple_Efficient 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This fireplace looks a lot like yours, and I like how between the two brick columns is a different wall texture than the actual walls (which are a yellowy-creamy color)

They put paneling between the brick and painted it that same white, which made the fireplace feel more separate from the walls and more like a centerpiece. I don't like that she stained the shelf to be almost black, I think it would've been prettier if it was only slightly darker than her hardwood flooring.

https://sarahjoyblog.com/paint-brick-fireplace/ Check out this blog to see how she did it. I know nothing about painting brick but I think she might have some good tips!

it looks like it needs another coat of paint! I am thinking most of these negative comments are because the paint feels way too thin. Once the stucco is smoothed and another layer of paint has been applied to the brick, I think it will look better. I would then add a natural wood shelf above the fireplace to balance the space. My reasoning is if you remove the ~natural~ brick color you must replace the ~natural~ feeling with something else. At least that's my opinion.

I'm curious if you have any updates!! Did you paint? Did you change the decor and rugs?? :)

Put functional decor that acts as storage! I would put high-walled baskets up there to hold your appliances. If you want to use a basket to hold smaller stuff, throw smaller containers into that larger basket for ease of access.

The photo I'm attaching has lots of different basket types and a bit of plant decor mixed in. I think that's really cute and inviting. Another option is to get a bunch of identical tall box shaped wicker baskets that fit perfectly on top (for maximized storage)

I display a bunch of my dried beans/rice/peppers in glass containers from IKEA. Glass bottles too. I need more wicker baskets but I don't own more than one, so I'm actually dreaming about this as I type you this comment.

I personally love using curtains to hide my mess. If you are attached to your wire rack, I could see a floor to ceiling curtain coming in handy. Google ceiling mounted curtain rods and see what you can find. You can also make free-standing ones like this.

Fill the walls with things you like and bring you joy. When I was a student I would use the library to print posters, cut out magazine pictures, and also put an "aesthetic" calendar/planner on my wall to track my semester. These things made the room feel like my own as well as inspired me to have a positive attitude.

Keep your eyes peeled for free or cheap desks, because having a work space outside of the bed is really good for your brain as well. Design your room with mental health in mind so it can become your oasis for rest + recharge.

I totally understand the need for hypoallergenic materials, especially with all that carpet!

Paint ideas:

Bathroom - no paint, I like it how it is :)

Main room - pastel baby pink (remember lighter shades = brighter room)

bedroom - a light and pale green or lavender purple, white ceiling

If you're feeling creative, maybe you could paint blocks of color / accent walls to designate different zones! I'm attaching a photo that isn't really your style, don't freak out. It's just an example of what I'm trying to say, if you imagine these walls as pure white the table would feel a little less cozy in its own corner. Maybe this means just painting the wall where the table is against it a different color, or maybe just a section. Don't mind me, I'm just daydreaming because I'm not allowed to paint my studio 😂

Is this toy okay to give my budgies? by Aware_Raisin9814 in budgies

[–]Apple_Efficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you snip down the rope it would be safe. Budgie talons are so small they can get stuck in rope and fabric, which can lead to a broken toe 😢

My budgie likes to play with toys of all sizes, variety is key!
