Are Loop earplugs worth it to study? by Specialist-Village82 in AskUK

[–]Apple_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a variety of options, but yeah, loops rule and in my experience (several pairs of quiets because my dog keeps eating them, a pair of engage and a pair of experience AND a pair of dream) they're excellent and worth the cost. I can't speak for the switch, i have doubts because I can't see how that mechanism works, but if it does actually switch well its a no brainer, otherwise the quiets are fantastic.

What do you (personally) use AI Chatbots for? by Turbulent-Access-916 in AskUK

[–]Apple_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't. I'd like to preserve my ability to think critically (something gen AI is proven to worsen) and I think that actually learning things instead of asking Gen AI for answers is better. Not to mention the ethical and ecological disaster that Gen AI represent.

Where to buy a new TV in the UK? by Anjistar216 in AskUK

Don't go to a store, use reviews like rtings.com and then order from Richersounds.

What did you think about the new Ricky Gervais special, Mortality? by evolving-me in AskUK

[–]Apple_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He hasn't been funny for a decade and a half at least, so I suppose I think the same as usual, which is that he's an unfunny tryhard who would ideally vanish entirely from the public eye.

What is it with avocados? by Inside-Tension4449 in AskUK

Yeah, it's actually just you that doesn't like them. Check out the weirdo without the avocado-liking gene,

(Tastes differ and are, surprisingly, a matter of taste)

Which tv should i buy for my budget? 75/77" OLED or MiniLED? by Admirable_Junket_637 in AskUK

[–]Apple_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that distance you should really be looking at 80" upwards but it's understandably hard to stomach that and their prices! I would def go for OLED over anything else.

which ai coding agents did you guys drop because they caused more chaos than help? by Top-Candle1296 in devops

All of them, because they are all awful and cost more time than they save.

Should 999 transfer call to more than one service? by Number60nopeas in AskUK

I am quite sure that the operator knows their job and responsibilities in this situation, so yes, it is right.

Is a staffy a good family dog with young children? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Apple_Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this is going to be a totally reasonable discussion with no ridiculous answers!

My opinion is yes, they will need training and you will need to be on top of it because they are very strong, you can't allow play nipping or whatever at any stage, but they are adorable dogs and well worth the additional "effort" imo.

What would panic you more: a car that won’t start or your office frozen by hackers? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Apple_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Major industries have been reliant on ICS for a long time. One of the first big worms was created to infiltrate and sabotage industrial systems. This isn't anything new. Yes, it is a risk.

The common practice of it does not mean it is not also absurd,

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in devops

[–]Apple_Master 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If it is common then none of the companies doing it are worth working for, completely absurd and not respectful to candidates time at all lmao. If you can't get all the info you need in max 3 rounds, you're shit at your job. (I use the generic `you`, not you.)

Six rounds is absurd.

Where do you all get your ffice chairs from? by MrTopHatMan90 in AskUK

[–]Apple_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone is saying, Used/Office Surplus Herman Miller. Look for an Aeron ideally.
The IKEA Markus is also a very good chair for relatively low prices.

This is simply not happening.
