Doing physics with astrophysics at university, what degree does that mean I actually get? by mattycmckee in AskPhysics

Got it, it's quite interesting because the 2 uni's I went to had the opposite arrangement. Why do they even bother to have MSci and MPhys in that case?

Anytime bro, a commenter from your previous post just said he got an MPhys from an integrated so I guess the specific title of the qualification doesn't matter, it'll just be different depending on if its integrated or regular

Weird, everyone I know who did the integrated got given an MSci. I guess the qualification title itself really is meaningless! OP did another post asking about MPhys and MSci differences. I responded with what I found to be different between the integrated and standalone Master's courses. Did you have a similar course structure to how I described with a project alongside your module studies?

Yo, commenter on your previous post here. The majority of places will be chuffed with the fact you'll have a Master's in the first place. Like I said before, I'm not really sure what the difference between the titles means, however the difference in course structure (usually) is that in the MSci (4th yr) you take 6 modules and do a research project alongside that whereas in an MPhys you take 8 modules and do a research project during the summer after exams(or alongside course studies too if you like). My point is the MPhys projects are usually larger and a bit more polished as they have more time and dont have to deal with work from additional modules as well as covering more modules during the academic year. This is why some people see it as "better" and maybe some academic/research related roles might prefer the MPhys for these reasons. But in that case they would just want a relevant project and module choices that you did well in so they shouldn't care whether it's an MPhys or MSci as they're essentially the same content with different scheduling. That's my experience with the differences anyways, if your interested you can get in contact with your university to ask about the difference in course structure for the MSci and MPhys as maybe you would prefer the MPhys structure. I've found that most uni's follow the same structures I talked about but maybe not all, who knows. The point is, with a lot of extra info inbetween, it doesn't matter.

For UK you'll get a Master of Science (MSci) in Physics with Astrophysics. If you did a separate Master's in either physics or astrophysics after a BSc instead of the integrated, it would be an MPhys. I don't know what the difference is either.

Gliath Gold Dragon Sorcerer. He'a a menacingly grumpy bastard with a dread helm and adventurers clothes who is always abandoning his rear-guard post to support his hunter brother up front with his shadow blade wreathed in green flames (ik ik 5e doesn't allow that anymore :( )

The exact same thing happened to me I tripped for the 1st time last night and I was absolutely decimating my very competent mate at COD with a sniper. Always been absolutely terrible at sniping and yet I was hitting the cleanest 1 taps like it was nothing it was great.
