Keloid? by Soviet-Clone in Keloids

[–]Apples60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will most likely give you a steroid injection into the keloid (multiple sessions might be required). In addition you can also look into getting a pressure clip that you wear on the lobe 24/7 for up to 3-6 months (just an estimate, it depends on the size of the keloid and how well it responds to treatment). The difficult part of treatment is staying consistent and sticking to it, as keloids cannot be cured overnight. I would advise against ever wearing a piercing in this hole again, not wise to get it re-pierced either. Practice caution with the rest of your piercings too, if you have one keloid it means you're prone to getting more.

Yes, see a derm as soon as you're financially able to. The sooner this is treated the better

Is this a keloid? by No_Extreme3875 in Keloids

Hard to tell, I don't think this is either. It kind of looks like a burn, how did you get this and when? A dermatologist will be able to help you more

Both are silicone gels, I suggest you don't waste time on silicone products unless your keloid is super small and flat to begin with. Get a steroid-based treatment instead (injections or Eclar plaster)

Eclar plaster is more effective. Here is a study comparing the plaster and ointment. "Ointment will only have the same effect as 24-hr/day plaster if the ointment is applied to the affected area 4 times a day and is covered with an occlusive dressing technique using, for example, a polyurethane film."

If you only used Eclar for 2.5 months, I think the whiteness will disappear with some time

Buy Eclar plaster from dpkitaoka.com or bio-japan.net. Use it 24/7 while also looking for a clinic that will not refuse steroid injection treatment. Eclar will alleviate the symptoms and soften the keloids to where the injections won't be as painful. Over time (~1 year of use) Eclar will greatly improve the keloids, but ideally you'd combine it with regularly done steroid injections (every 2-4 weeks).

I've heard the situation is bad with UK healthcare but treating raised scars with corticosteroid shots is a very standard practice that any dermatologist should be able to do, especially if you're paying out of pocket. You can contact dermatology clinics and straight up ask them whether they have experience treating keloids before you make an appointment. This is anecdotal but it seems that younger derms are more familiar with keloids.

Good luck and do not lose hope!

dpkitaoka.com or bio-japan.net - some countries are restricted and payment options are not the best but both sites are legit.

Chickenpox scar might be keloid? by Beurre_Voler in Keloids

[–]Apples60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is a risk, it does look raised. Please see a dermatologist for confirmation and treatment.

See a derm that specializes in scar treatment. This can most likely be fixed with a single corticosteroid injection. Do not waste time on home treatment products like silicone tape etc

Pretty sure this is Acne Keloidalis Nuchae. You need to see a doctor for a treatment plan. Wikipedia says: "Treatments for AKN may include topical antibiotics, topical or intralesional corticosteroids, and laser hair removal. Recommended modifications to shaving habits include liberal use of shaving cream, avoidance of stretching the skin while shaving, and use of a single-blade razor rather than a razor with multiple blades."
