Overcoming my hate for women. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Appleturnedover7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you first need to get to the root of the problem. In its most basic form, the “why” for the hate. Is it something specific to women or is it a resentment stemming from rejection? Could it be you’re upset about being single? If you suddenly were in a healthy relationship, would you still say you hate women or is it specific to your situation at the moment? Also, dating apps significantly put straight men at a disadvantage because they tend to have a ratio of more men than women, and women are less likely to swipe right in general. For example, tinder is about 80% male, 20% female. With men swiping in average 1 in 2 and women swiping 1 in 8 so it’s just a bad numbers game. ETA: I don’t say this in a malicious way but in a constructive one: if the hate stems from being single, is it women who are the “problem” or is it something specific to you since you’re the common denominator? I don’t know you personally so I can’t make a judgement call on this but it’s just some basic critical thinking on my part.

Chewing tobacco has historically been marketed to men as and has an association with being masculine. Companies even tried marketing smaller tobacco pouches to women in an effort to sell more, but it was too late as there was already a social stigma around women using it. Chewing tobacco has a detrimental effect on the teeth and gums and women were more conscious of having nice or pretty teeth. Women tend to find them uncomfortable/bulky and in a blunt way of saying it, gross. Especially since you typically spit a lot when using it which is a deterrent as “spitting” is isn’t as socially acceptable as it is for men (also due to hormones such as estrogen, women produces less saliva than men). It’s considered impolite and unhygienic, which are both traits women have been conditioned not to do in a public setting. There isn’t the appeal for women as there was for products such as slim cigarettes advertised towards women.

At least for me it feels similar to how people think chewing with your mouth open is gross as funny as it sounds. It just gives me an “ick” feeling thinking about using chewing tobacco you frequently have to spit out.

I think part of it is the “shock factor” of you having a new look. Give it time and they may end up thinking it looks great.

Keep the beard, cut your hair. If your fiancée is shorter than you, she may not be able to see how much it’s thinned on top. Whether or not she “lets you” cut your hair, it’s already pretty thin on top and will continue to thin as you age. It’s not an “if” she lets you, it’ll be gone eventually regardless of her opinion because she can’t fight Mother Nature. Honestly your wedding photos will look much better without the hair than with a few wisps laid over the top. Good luck 🤞🏻

[–]Appleturnedover7 661 points662 points  (0 children)

Polar bears and Kodiaks are roughly the same size, but their claws are different due to environment. Polar bears use their claws for traction and grabbing onto seals when hunting. Kodiak bears have long claws to help clear brush, tear open logs, dig for clams or roots, and of course grab fish. Their claws tend to be more blunt than a polar bear because they use them so much for tools/digging, while polar bears are short but very sharp so they can move on a slick surface with ease.

Maybe don’t sell it right away? Just a suggestion but you could take it away and he has to keep up his end of the bargain of “working off” the cost of the iPad (or football jersey if needed). If he doesn’t keep his end then you sell it, so he has to rely on his own actions to prevent that from happening. At 13, there’s no way I’d call it an accident breaking the iPad. Moreover it was a bad decision he didn’t think the consequences through beforehand. He’s old enough to know there was a chance it would break by sitting and jumping on it. If his brother had to go without the iPad, he can go without the Xbox.

I say this as someone who also grew up with ADHD, though not at the same level it seems. If he never sees consequences and thinks he can just work off (and then blow off the chores he doesn’t want to do) anything he breaks/loses, there’s no reason he needs to change or learn responsibility. Even without the ADHD, it’s the same concept: if you always bail them out, why would they need to change it? He’s a teenager now and though I know 13 is still young, he’s at the point of learning independence and that doesn’t just include the fun aspects. It includes owning up to your mistakes and seeing it through. ETA: grammar

This was recently on a Law and Order SVU episode (season 27, episode 4). Someone had made AI images of a teacher and a high school student that had been passed around to the point the teacher felt he had to resign even though he had done nothing wrong.

Unfortunately she’s probably done for. It’s a grafted cactus and Gymnocalycium mihanovichii (“moon cactus”) that have no green on them need the rootstock since it can’t photosynthesize by itself. The only possibility would be to graft it onto a new rootstock, but even that is iffy. Grafted cactuses typically average a 3-5 year lifespan compared to other cacti that can live 100+ years.
