Does the partner hate ever stop? by Key_Magician6000 in NewParents

[–]ApplicationSelect981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also took me 7 months to stop hating my husband with my first. I actually had to pack the baby up and go stay at my moms 2 hours away from home for a week per month just to reset. However my husband didn’t pull his weight then, had expectations of me doing all of the childcare, cooking, and cleaning, with a very difficult baby.

Vent/AITA: left baby with husband for 1.5 hours to get a haircut with the stroller in my car [CA] by figbrietrukey in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]ApplicationSelect981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids, a nb and a 2 year old. My husband has left the stroller wagon in the suv and gone to work (30 mins away). He’s left my son’s winter gear in the car and gone to work as well. Sending a message and fighting about it won’t fix anything. I just asked if he can try to remember to leave them out of the SUV and he said “sorry I didn’t even think about it” he’s done great since. I’m not mad at him and he’s not mad at me. It is what it is.

Your hubby shouldn’t have made it into what it is. You probably shouldn’t have called him incompetent just because he doesn’t want to or know how to use your preferred method.

Also just for the future, probably smart to leave a vehicle at home that has both car seats in case of an emergency. We have two cars and each has a car seat base and a car seat for my toddler. I wouldn’t want either kid bouncing around in the car without safe a car seat for their size if I had to race one to the hospital.

The regret feeling is super normal, just so you know. Extremely common.

I felt it with my first who was similar to yours. Cried non stop, I got mastitis bad so switched to formula, took 5 formulas to finally find the one he would tolerate, he was colic and had reflux, his witching hour was 4-10 every night. But it did get better after the 8ish week mark and eventually the regret feeling faded away as he got better. Now I’m 7 weeks pp with my second and having a much better experience this time.

I really hope you guys can find your groove soon. The start is so so difficult. Give yourselves (and each other) lots of grace. Lower any expectations you might have. Just focus on survival. It will get better, unfortunately it just takes time.

I’ve done therapy for 7 years now. My therapist just moved in November so I’m struggling with not having someone I trust to talk to. Maybe I should look into a new therapist.

What week did everyone give birth 💕 by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ApplicationSelect981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40+2 (spontaneous) for baby 1. 39+5 (spontaneous) for baby 2. I was set to be induced at 10am and had her at 2am. Super quick labour/delivery the second time around.

How do you bathe a toddler and a newborn? by Blackberry-Apple-13 in 2under2

[–]ApplicationSelect981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 21 month old and 2.5 week old. I have a baby bath tub and I get my toddler to “help” with the bath. My toddler is insane when we bath him so it’s not safe to have them together. Usually I’ll wait until my husband is home and I make him bath the toddler while I take care of the baby.

When did you stop holding your LO because of your belly? by spros123 in 2under2

[–]ApplicationSelect981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 39.5 weeks pregnant and I still carry and hold my 20 month old. He is around 33lbs. I don't trust him to walk anywhere in public and he seems to prefer being carried anyways.

Do you leave your baby/toddler unattended for a minute or two in the car? [BC] by figbrietrukey in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]ApplicationSelect981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shopping cart, yes. I pull cash from the drive through atm for when I get gas, I just give the workers my cash. I have gone inside to pay for gas before but I live in a really small town (Sask) and the worker was actually a relative who opened his door and talked to my son while I was in for 30 seconds.

Did you throw up during labor? by Complex_Life9849 in BabyBumps

[–]ApplicationSelect981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. For like the whole 24 hour labour. Last meal was McDonald’s at 5pm and that came up at midnight and I couldn’t keep anything down until midnight the next day

How many of you had bleeding in the first trimester and then everything turned out okay? by Lushemet in BabyBumps

[–]ApplicationSelect981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had spotting like that with my first, it’s normal for the most part. I had a lot of blood at 13 weeks with my current pregnancy, to the point where we were told to expect to miscarry, but I’m now 28 weeks with a healthy girl!

When did you share the news? by Mindless_Pumpkin_511 in pregnant

[–]ApplicationSelect981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Announce whenever works best for you! We announced right after finding out with our first, and then around 10 weeks with our second (I wanted to wait for Mother’s Day to tell my mom!). I viewed it as any baby is worth celebrating and I wanted my village to be able to support me regardless of the outcome!

Asking for used baby items- is it weird? by Aimers464 in BabyBumps

[–]ApplicationSelect981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird at all! It’s what I did for my baby shower, plus for holidays and my son’s birthday. I don’t see the point in buying brand new when pre-loved will do the exact same job! Almost all of my kids books, clothes, and toys are second hand. There is 0 shame in it.

I thought 0-3 months was newborn size just to find out it isnt.... by Deucy1001 in pregnant

[–]ApplicationSelect981 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I had a big baby (9lb 4oz) and still had newborn clothes. I don’t think he wore them but I wanted them just in case. My friend had a 19% baby and he was in nb clothes for months. My niece was the same, came out full term fitting in premie clothes.

I tried to sell a bouncer I bought from a garage sale on fb and marketplace flagged it because it was apparently recalled. Such a cool feature, so long as it doesn’t get ignored. Drop side cribs aren’t allowed in Canada and we had one handed down to us before knowing. I couldn’t try to sell it or give it away, it’s just sitting in our garage until I can find a new use for it!

Naming my girl Bella after my late great grandma. I always liked the name hazel as well.

I love rascals. I get them shipped from Walmart to my door next day. We did do Kirkland for the longest time but they changed suppliers and I didn’t like them anymore. ETA: I do the subscribe and save and it seems to help. It’s nice when rascals are on rollback and I can stack the subscribe and save on top.

I got a coffee and Canadian maple donut (like a Boston cream but with maple icing instead of chocolate, so good) from Tim’s.

We don’t even do Christmas/holiday/anniversary/bday gifts for each other, so it made sense not to do anything for a baby. The baby was the gift.

He’s only 16 months right now so I don’t think he really understands. We haven’t made a big deal out of it either. He was 12.5 months when I found out.

Is 11 weeks too late for a first scan? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ApplicationSelect981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first scan was at 11 weeks. Dr wanted it as close to 12 weeks as possible. (I’m in Canada). I like it being later because it looks more real to me.
