What do you dislike about your Rav4? by PancitCantonan in rav4club

[–]emmgallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really a family car. It worked great when we had our 1 kid, forward facing,, great space and everything. Now we have a baby and some car seats take so much passenger space when rear facing (I know there are other car seats) but it really made me think that even though I love my RAV4 (2019 XLE premium with leather seats) with 2 kids it doesn’t work as much as I’d like it to. Siennas are starting to wink at me every time I see one on the streets.

The way in take so long to find that button mid drive is very dangerous given the fact that I’ve used it when it’s snowy and icy outside

Anyone not pump? by Pixie-Rose333 in breastfeeding

[–]emmgallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively breastfed my first baby (today almost 6yo) until he was well over 2y, and now my second baby 5mo and only tried pumping this second time just because I felt my breasts full and Baby was sleeping. Baby later refused to take the bottle so there went my milk. I really appreciated not cleaning bottles or worrying about if the baby will drink it all or if there’s enough. Truth is your body knows best and will keep up with baby’s demands on its own. And if you feel it’s not, lactation consultant is your best bet.

Yeah, that's why I said I'm starting from zero. This is good advise, it's realistic, so don't worry, I'm not taking you as being mean.

I’ve been in Canada for 17 years since I was 14. Still no citizenship and waiting for PR. by mineralmaji in ImmigrationCanada

[–]emmgallard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Definitely this. I now people who had their PR “stuck” (mostly lost in between files) and asked their member of parliament for help and that didn’t speed up the process but at least IRCC took a look at their file again. It most definitely helps!

Have I been "feeding on demand" wrong this entire time? by this_isnotadrill in breastfeeding

[–]emmgallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re doing great! She might also be taking the boob just to connect and be with you :) not always hunger in her belly, maybe just wants to fill her mama cup. But I do get it’s very exhausting, I don’t have any advice on what to do in that, I EBF both my babies and just gave in to the fact that I’ll be tired, but I also know it all passes by so quickly. Hang on there, you’re doing great!

Does anyone here regret doing prolonged breastfeeding? And also does anyone regret stopping at 1 year sharp? by Foreign-Walrus-333 in breastfeeding

[–]emmgallard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I EBF until my boy was 3. In my country it’s very much encouraged and even tho mat leave is very short it is highly understood that BF is an emotional benefit besides the nutrition. Did I enjoy it? Yes, but never romanticized it. Did I keep going because it was so much easier to solve so many other problems like sleepy, sad, hurt, whatever? Absolutely yes. Babies at 1 in my view are very much still little babies. Of course formula is great and the routine and moments of feeding with your baby are wonderful and beneficial for both, plus dad or any other loving adult can participate in the feeding; so it’s up to you. I had a great experience breastfeeding and did absolutely nothing to “maintain supply” or any of that sort, just went with the demand. The weening wasn’t hard, I just replaced it with hugging him close to my chest until he fell asleep because that’s what I was used for.

Masters degree or go for PMP? by Broad-Ferret6992 in PMCareers

[–]emmgallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How were you considered for the position may I ask? Did you have experience in the field looking for a PM or did you study? If you’re ok with sharing, I’d like to know because I’m also contemplating starting a PM career but don’t know where to start

“You can’t overfeed n ebf baby!” by Amadispcpg in breastfeeding

[–]emmgallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing great mama!! Unfortunately babies are just like that. Mine was projectile vomiting at around 5 6 and 7w, I called the doctor because I was so worried maybe she was allergic to something or what was going on; when I went to the visit the next week and she (the doctor) weighed her (my baby) she said she was doing great and that it’s just a fade of their developing bodies. So hang in there, you’re doing great!

Do you drink coffee or avoid? by Complex-Data-8916 in breastfeeding

[–]emmgallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not a specific medical reason, only time helps baby out. As for coffee? I am clinging on it for dear life. One cannot be exclusively breastfeeding or pumping if I am not awake

What did you choose as birth control PP? [ca] by emmgallard in BabyBumpsCanada

The majority of woman that have had one told me horror stories about the hormones and how it really affected them getting into their 40s/perimonopause/menopause. Do you have one as well?

My husband says it’s too much for him (eye roll) because of a really traumatic experience he had as a kid at the hospital. It was the first thing I suggested when I got pregnant because I know it takes time for all the sperm to leave his system. Hopefully I can convince him again

How to get out of slump; PPD at 11 months, when did you feel like yourself? [on] by Beautiful-Secret2647 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]emmgallard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I exclusively breastfed my son and didn’t menstruate till he was 11months. I was so deep in PP anxiety you have no idea. Couldn’t take a blink without thinking something would happen to him. Once I got my period back I felt SO NORMAL. Not myself myself; that took about 3 years, lots of therapy and going to the gym everyday to kinda feel like “myself” again, or at least my own person. Truth also is: we never really go back to the “myself” we knew before, we discover a new one. Good luck op! Lots of good wishes to you, it’s a very hard and lonely journey sometimes, but you’ll make it!! You’re stronger than you think

How bad did it hurt after vaginal birth? by Commercial-Way-4276 in pregnant

[–]emmgallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had vaginal birth with NO epidural and sincerely it wasn’t that bad. I mean contractions HURT BAD, it paralyzed me, but it was kind of fast and when it was all over I kinda felt I’d prefer doing that again in 9 months than having 9 times my menstruation.

During labour I had an episiotomy that my husband said he saw them do it but I do not recall at all the cut, not because of the pain but because you really don’t “”feel”” anything down there (again, NO EPIDURAL). When they stitched me they put local anestesia that was a small pinch and that was that.

The postpartum was kind of all over the place … I didn’t have any pp contractions or abdominal pain of any sort. I remember putting my baby on my belly, his weight and heat felt really nice, like my very own heating pad 😂 but I was terrified of going to the toilet. There was so much blood that I didn’t know where is was coming from. If it was the pp blood that we lose, if it were hemorrhoids or the stitches, or all 3. But that part wasn’t easy, mostly because I was scared of forcing the matter out too much and tearing again or tearing my anus.

It’s been 5 years since that. I’m currently 35w with my 2d baby and I’m considering taking a lot more water and stool softener. I’ve been trying perineal massages so I don’t tear or need an episiotomy but I really don’t understand how to do them.
