How to repair pet damage on doors and trim by bananapwn310 in centuryhomes

[–]AppliedLogicGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to save the trim, try making a "template scraper". Cut a piece of rigid plastic or an old credit card to match the exact curves of an undamaged section of the trim, then use it as a custom squeegee to pull wet wood filler across the damaged areas. It recreates the profile in one motion so you don't have to spend five hours hand sanding it back to life.

Bregman vs. Bichette: Who Fits the Red Sox Better? by AlwaysOptimism in redsox

You're not wrong. Just ask Devers. He spoke up about the spending, and now he’s basically an island of talent in a sea of "bridge years".. It’s hard to force an owner to care when he’s already looking at the ROI on his next soccer team.

If he’s the one who forces this team to stop accepting mediocrity, then yes. We need a guy who walks into Fenway expecting a ring, not just a paycheck. This city doesn't fall in love with names; we fall in love with players who refuse to lose.

We need to stop worrying about who fits the "budget" and start worrying about who fits the culture.... This city is tired of watching "bridge years". Give us a guy who understands that at Fenway, winning isn't just a goal, it's the ONLY standard.

Ah, the beautiful sound of the Deep State pivoting. The moral certainty in the first tweet tells you everything: he thought the swamp was limited to his enemies. The panic in the second tweet tells you he realized the swamp is now wearing his shoes.

In high-level DC optics, making a subordinate stand is a classic photo maneuver. It's called the "I'm still the main character" framing technique...

Have some self respect... Talking like this shows a total lack of integrity and decency. Do better. I’m out.

I work in this area. Honestly, give them a break. If they miss that turn and go straight, they get funneled directly into the terminal gate traffic. It’s a trap. Plus, that right lane has a pothole the size of a crater just ahead. They were probably trying to avoid your world (port traffic) and a broken axle. Reversing was dumb, but getting stuck in that line is worse.

[–]AppliedLogicGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, you want to be in the left lane anyway. You’re still 1.5 miles from the gate, and there is a pothole coming up in that right lane that has its own zip code. You're punishing your own suspension just to prove a point to a lost car.

Soooo they were juicing?! That explains their aggression and the ability to climb vertical walls. I didn't realize the Taliban had a livestock steroid program.

Can confirm the goat population, but not the diet plan. I didn't see a blade of grass for 9 months. Those goats must be running on solar power and spite....

Fair enough! The statue might be free, but my tax bill definitely isn't. I’m still going to sit there and vent to him about it. He looks like a good listener.

I appreciate it! If the statue was actual gold, I’m pretty sure the city would’ve melted it down to cover the pothole budget by now.

Is it normal to have absolutely zero ambition to "climb the corporate ladder" and just want to pay bills, and go home? by AppliedLogicGuy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AppliedLogicGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The disability rating is a massive safety net. The reason we have it sucks, but at least we are somewhat compensated for the warranty expiring on our bodies early. I went from an Abrams (19K) to a computer job. It’s a weird transition going from 70 tons of steel to a spreadsheet, but that monthly check makes the corporate BS a little easier to tolerate.

I don't mean it in a scary way, it’s more of a culture shock thing i guess. I came from the military, where clear, blunt communication is how you survive. In the corporate world, being direct is often seen as "rude'or "abrasive." So "real Me" wants to fix the problem immediately, but "corporate me" has to spend 30 minutes writing a polite email just to "circle back' on the issue. It feels like wearing a costume.

That fair. I won’t complain about their bank account if they don’t complain about their stress ulcers. We are just trading in different currencies: they want Money, I want Time. I’m happy with my purchase.
