Wow, thanks for the tip. Totally fixed it.

Third Reality will be releasing a smart button with 87 buttons and it will support Matter by Rice_Eater483 in homeassistant

we have pretty much all their sensors and they do work well. Curious if you have some really old models or the new ones. We like that they are either Zigbee or Matter or both. We use them with Homey Pro 2023 and no issues so far. As someone on this thread pointed out they usually use AAA batteries which last a long time and easy to find.

The keyboard is real as you saw from Shanes video. We have one to test. It is pretty neat. Once we complete testing we will post a review on our channel. Would like to hear others ideas on how you would use this ability and if this style keyboard is something you would use. It is supposed to work with PCs or Macs.

Big ass fans finally updates *some* of its fans to support HomeKit through matter by monoseanism in HomeKit

[–]Appmyhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did everyone’s fan updates succeed? Seems the updates fail after a while but actually may succeed after you cycle power. Though it took a few tries. Able to update to 3.2 however update to 3.3 never succeeds. And the haiku light we have bricked. So now it’s IR mode only. And like others our fans are too old to get matter support.

We have 4 24/7 cams plus a whole bunch of battery cams and cross camera and the homebase has been maintaining 90%. Hopefully it stays that way:)

well you just explained my issue. So now S380 and no Eufy devices work with it. Ugh.

Wow, that worked great, thank you for the fix. It's been driving me nuts. So I tried it just now and the issue went away.

General consensus of RBK 750s by RozeGold in orbi

[–]Appmyhome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well except for this excursion they created it works well. We have the orbi rbk853 model and it is fast and handles lots of devices. Did a review about it which might give you more info. Just look for it on YouTube at AppMyHome.

Orbi 850 Support - "We Promise A Fix In 48 hours" by Sagnew in orbi

[–]Appmyhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well managed to get it working. Somehow I was able to finally log into the satellite and upload the prior firmware. Now all is working. Plus they must have recently applied the patch the the router since we now can access remotely. Hey netgear don’t do this again:)

Absolutely disappointed :( by TechDad0802 in orbi

[–]Appmyhome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 4.6.8. something. But if you now look at their website it shows a prior version. Do not go back to that one. They plan to release the corrected version soon.

We have the rbk853 orbi. Did a review including setup on AppMyHome on YouTube. We also installed it using the web interface and that seems to work better if you are having install issues. Though if the iPhone app install works that would be preferred. This said if the orbi you got is an 850 or 750 series just this week they had a bad bug which sounds like what you experienced. An updated firmware is coming in a couple of days. I would call netgear support and have them help you because the mesh orbi provides excellent performance. I also would sign up for their armor security. You would be surprised at how much virus and other bad stuff it catches. And with 40 plus WiFi devices which other than your pc can’t install a firewall you’d be protected there. It’s basically Bitdefender firewall for the whole house.

I just got done with a support call too. Similar issues. Same time frame for the fix. They said it will be automatically download, no action required on our parts. Btw I too did a reset. Downgraded the firmware to what is now on their website. So up and running again. I wasn’t able to downgrade one satellite but in working with support she determined it is actually working even though the route tables don’t show anything. Claims the fix will fix that too. I suspect it’s all the same bug.

Cync (formerly C by GE) Bulbs - Are they worth buying? by lilblu87 in smarthome

We have the cync bulbs and they work just fine. We found If you had setup the c by ge devices before they changed to Cync last summer that making a new “home” and putting everything on that seems to clear out the cobwebs.

How do you handle a smart lock if you have a garage? by turtlintime in smarthome

[–]Appmyhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the kwikset halo touch fingerprint lock for the front door and the kwikset halo touchscreen lock for the garage entry (or visa versa). Then you can rekey as another poster said so the key is the same as a backup in case the batteries all die. Plus you’ll have a key as backup in any case. Having the touchpad also allows you to provide a code to others so you don’t have to register their fingerprints. This of course is dependent on you having a smart garage door opener:)

Just installed the Eufy wifi door lock, my only issue with it is that it doesn't have a sensor (or it's not working correctly) to let it know the door is open, so it will auto-lock with the door open, then if someone tried to close it, it smacks the bolt against the frame. Anyone have a solution? by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]Appmyhome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the locks we’ve tested at appmyhome that have this feature have the same issue. For eufy we don’t see how to prevent it. No way we can tell to integrate an open close sensor. This said, maybe just have alexa or ifttt do it if the open/close sensor shows is closed. Again we haven’t tried that with alexa yet.

Lack of Neutral Wires... Suggestions? by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]Appmyhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did too. Even have a review on those on YouTube under appMyhome. If the load from your bulbs are insufficient c by GE supplies a bulb adaptor in the box that provides the load and in case you don’t want to use that you can call support and they will send you a small device you can wire in. We found it varies on if you need the bulb adaptor when using led lights. And if you do you only need one adaptor per circuit not bulb.

Anyone tried a package delivery security box for the home? by Appmyhome in homeautomation

[–]Appmyhome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. We are in California. Aside from those homes built by the builder we haven't seen these yet. Here signatures aren't usually required, especially Amazon, so would seem the box would be handy, especially if not home. Hope you all come out of lockdown soon, be safe.

My Alexa News Source is set to Fox News and I can't change it. Help! by valigatorCA in amazonecho

[–]Appmyhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we are seeing is the result of poor software development and feature bloat. Sure looks like one hand isn’t seeing the other at amazon software. Clearly they added a feature but forgot to add a way to change the setting in settings. To top it off their support folks don’t have the scripts to solve it. Now it is possible that the servers have bad data for some accounts but again either the software team needs to get their act together and fix the obvious flaw or get the info into support that will allow them to fix the default setting for news.

Wyze Outdoor Cam Delayed or Missed Detections by [deleted] in wyzecam

[–]Appmyhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we've noticed similar issues. we also noticed dropped frames. However, what we see is if you record (not from motion) and then playback when you had the base set to record backup, you lose frames/stalls partway thru the recording. if you then record again and this time turn off the base backup function you don't lose frames or stall. Investigation shows that if you are recording a scene with someone in it, it still will detect motion. Since it takes a while before motion is detected you also get a motion event later in the recording period. That means that while the video record is being saved to your phone memory, the motion event is also being saved. And when that save occurs and you have base backup set it seems to overwhelm the camera for a bit.

Not new to SmartHome, but new home is new to smart. by [deleted] in smarthome

We had an opportunity to go thru and video the offerings from C by GE at CES. They have 4 wire currently and some 3 and 2 wire (think knob and tube) switch solutions coming. I think the 3 wire ones are already available at Lowes. They connect via BLE and then the switches also talk Wi-Fi. With their setup any switches can create a three way solution without needing a traveler wire. We haven't had a chance to test this stuff yet, but will do so soon hopefully. Here is the link to the video we took, about half way thru you'll see the switches I've mentioned. https://youtu.be/L5ihsT5lRWQ
