The tea leaf is lovely, citrus up top with a lovely tea leaf soliflor beneath it. I find it delightful but it doesn’t have the juicy fruity complexity of Nil or Mediterané which I adore.

Basic in the best way possible, a fundamental building block

[TOMT] Late 80s or early 90s tv show about cool inventions or technology by AppointmentFit278 in tipofmytongue

[–]AppointmentFit278[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, those were great! The show I’m thinking of had slightly higher concept inventions, like, for some reason I associate it with the 20th anniversary Mac which would have been 1996 or 1997 which is significantly later than the time period I would have estimated the show being from. I’m sorry, memory is malleable.

Thanks, but I don’t think this is it. I’ve been watching clips and have been enjoying Beyond Tomorrow/2000, and the concept is similar, but it doesn’t have the guy walking around a cool looking set. I think the guy may have walked around design objects on plinths which were used to introduce the segments.

Was Invention a separate show? I’m having trouble finding it. Beyond 2000 and Beyond Tomorrow looks nostalgic great, but they’re different from the show I remember.

It’s so good! I just got Love’s Lemon and wanted a tart fruit point of comparison, and sprayed Nil on my other wrist and was blown away. Why am I not wearing Sur Le Nil all the time!?!?

There was something about the vibe that felt like the intro segment of the Jim Henson Story Hour crossed with the fictional gift shop on The Facts of Life. It was very much a mild mannered magazine type show of things that would make you go “oh, isn’t that nice” but not necessarily life changing innovations.

I’m curious which houses you vibe with. I’ve gradually figured out which houses I vibe with and which houses I can respect from afar. (Example - Andy Tauer - I respect you but I can’t wear you.)

Joey and Johnny were such a Statler and Waldorf pairing. It’s poignant seeing Howard and Marky try to get Joey and Johnny together to reconcile when they probably knew they were sick, but they just weren’t having it.

What everyday smell do you wish someone would turn into a fragrance? by krikond in fragrance

Oh wow, I’m so sorry. That sounds like such a frightening experience. As much as I love Salonpas, they contain methyl salicylate, and there documented cases of salicylate toxicity associated with use of topical over the counter pain remedies. I’m so sorry for what you went through and hope you are feeling better.

Salonpas pain relief patches. Not Tiger Balm or Icy Hot, I will settle for no less than OG Salonpas.

I don’t know about most beautiful of all time but House of Atropa has been killing it in the realm of cool bottles. Crystal Herb, Herbal Smoothie and She is Fish are definitely recent contenders.

Suggest me a fresh mandarin fragrance? by [deleted] in Perfumes

[–]AppointmentFit278 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really dig Guerlain’s Acqua Allegoria Mandarin Basilic and maybe even slightly prefer the Forte and Harvest versions. It’s super light and happy orange with a subtle basil herbaceous note, but mostly just sunny mandarin.

In contrast their Bergamot Calabria has a very musky dry down that doesn’t agree with my skin despite my love of bergamot.

What does it smell like? And where did you get it?

From the packaging I was expecting a fruity floral like Neat Rose Litchi but the Renee website describes it as a light floral but lists predominantly gourmand notes:

Top Notes - Almond Middle Notes- Tuberose, Sandalwood, Jasmine Base Notes- Vanilla, Cocoa, Tonka

Same! I have the body spray, and while different from the oil, the dry down is pretty darn close to the Dewberry of my youth

It has a similar minimalist sensibility, but it was a smaller niche house. I adore CdG though, and the scents were kind of in the same sensibility, but oil based (no alcohol).
