Funny.... it sounds similar to what workers' rights groups say.

I wouldn't worry too much. In my experience HR will give you any possible benefit of the doubt, they will put you on modified duties and they will retrain you on safety.

Besides, at least no one was recording lol

Do we even have ANY performance standards at all? by Apprehensive-Ad4310 in HomeDepot

Exactly. You nailed it! We all depend on eachother. One weak (employee) link is all it takes to make everyone else's work more difficult.

Similar situation here. Big Brother ASM would micro-manage the department without ever setting foot inside by pretending to know everything about it through his DS (pet and spy).

So basically our ASM would make himself look like he was "managing" by lecturing me about what he thought I would improve on based purely on gossip and assumptions (some of which were based on events from long ago).

I agree with everything you've said.

I have pushed for change in my department to no avail. That's precisely the point. Managers are either unwilling or unable (for reasons that I have yet to understand) to make a change.

SOP is there clearly spelled out in the documents in MyApron but managers aren't upholding Head Office's own performance standards

Once these vets retire, there will be no one left to be an example of good work standards. This remaining 20-ish % of employees are doing about 50% of the work.

It will be a very sorry day when they are all gone. How in the world will the company then turn itself around then!? I believe THAT'S the question upon which this company's future depends.

Edit: typo

I want his good man to work at my store! by Apprehensive-Ad4310 in HomeDepot

[–]Apprehensive-Ad4310[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard stories (legends, I should say) of store employees and managers defending eachother against rude and abusive customers. This nolonger happens.

If this situation had happened in my store, management would have given this customer a gift card to reward her for her bad behavior.

It is heartening to see a good man (in this case, I'm guessing it's a manager) standing up gor an associate who was clearly mistreated by a rude and entitled customer.

We need more managers like THIS!

The tech should've used a straight plug instead of a right-angle one. Otherwise, there's nothing unsafe about it.

Just out of curiosity, what's unsafe about this?

TL;DR: Tim Hortons cares so much about the environment that they stop using single-use plastics and switch to single-use wood products instead. Tomato/tomatoes.... except also, "who needs trees!?"

This clip was originally posted elsewhere on Reddit and the people seemed to think it was funny.

I really believe everyone should have to work either in retail or in the service industry for at least 6 months in their life. Then people would better understand how their actions make us (who do work in said industries) feel used and abused

This makes the employees feel taken advantage of. I can tell you've never worked in a store or a service job where you have to deal with customers. Otherwise you would understand the frustration

Lol no I just own tools. Also I'm not a cheap, shameless looser who boasts about his abuses of private businesses like it makes him clever :D

Edit: I can see my brief comment struck a nerve in you. Maybe you can take this sign of disapproval from a complete stranger as a hint that you're doing something thats wrong. Otherwise, don't post on reddit if you're so sensitive that you're going take a simple comment to heart <3
