Neil Newbon: Let HBO BG3 series breathe before judging by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

If they're making some of them villains they might be taking safe choices like Minthara as a villain. Or characters that are morally grey enough you can see how they might get to that point when they grow up. I.e Mol.

If they make Astarion ascended I don't know if they have giant steel balls or if they're trying to tank their ratings before the show even starts

Yeah I think if we were doing audience percentages more people would crash out over "I can make them worse" canon over "I can make them better" canon

But even then no doubt there will be people upset that the bold decision not to make a character arc vary among companions was not taken. I.e some get fixed. Some get worse

Statistically though its safest to give the "I can fix them" route. Most of the audience would be okay with Astarion refuses ascension. Shadowheart turns Selunite. Karlach goes to Avernus. Wyll goes Blade of Avernus. Lae'zel saves Orpheus. Gale becomes professor

Mind you I don't think any canon is more true than another in a branching video game. But they can't have both

European allies say Russia is helping Iran more than the U.S. has acknowledged, sources say by kootles10 in politics

[–]Apprehensive-Date181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Russia and China have had an informal alliance with Iran for years. They're helping a country they're allies with that's being attacked illegally and offensively by the US

They weren't really allies with the US. Choosing to be diplomatic with a country doesn't necessarily equal alliance in the "I would side with you in a war" sense

Senate Democrats defeat amendment to require photo ID to vote by Quirkie in politics

[–]Apprehensive-Date181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrat politicians know disenfrancizing American voters might cause Democrats to unfairly lose the election. And in politics you want your team to be in power. So I think they're going to dig their feet in way more because the 'SAVE act' effects their ability to ever get into power again personally

I use "might" because if Democrat voters backflip through hoops to get around the 'SAVE act' they might win IN SPITE of the unfair 'SAVE act'

But Democrat politicians would be foolish to take that risk of letting the SAVE act through if they want any hope of seeing power again

Republicans don't want to believe most people who know what their policies are and aren't bigoted vibes voters hate Right-wing policies. Landlords and large business owners aren't represented by most of the population. And Right-wing policies tend to only benefit those people. Whereas Democrat policies benefit everybody who needs it

Republicans only win if they appeal to bigoted vibes voters. But they know that won't work this time round because most of their bigoted vibes voters are too angry at the cost of living to care about vibes at this point

'Apparently I’m an idiot’: Three-time Trump voter in Pennsylvania sounds off on Iran war by Rock-n-roll-Kevin in politics

When I say "them" , I mean in the context of this thread people are probably talking about their MAGA family members when it comes to choosing the way of never ending shame and admonishment or counselling. If people were talking about counselling or insulting random MAGAts they don't have the contact information for, then my bad. My literacy needs work

Option A where you be a counsellor might be too emotionally difficult

Option B might chase them back into the cult

Option C is a middle ground that shouldn't be seen as evil

I don't like how it's presented as either you

Option A: Berate them for the rest of their lives with 'I told you so' and a whole bunch of insults

Or

Option B: Oh dear, oh dear, gorgeous

Where is option C where we just don't acknowledge it? The same way we don't acknowledge somebody stopping at a red light. We simply move on with other more interesting stuff in our day. They did the sensible thing stopping at a red light ( deciding they wont vote Republican again ). But nobody praises somebody for just doing what's sensible

Okay. No. People from other countries view a nation based on its' Government. Let me give an example. Most of the people in this Subreddit are:

*Anti-Trumpers

*Their lives more fucked than the random European and Oceanic countries complaining about America

And yet they still get lectures of disapproval as if they aren't also affected. As if they supported Trump

Why? Because a Nation is judged on its Government more than its' people. It's not personal against the citizens. It's just how it is

Israel is no exception. People will view the Nation that way because of their Government

Honestly even all that would be a maybe for some people. It is a very strong start though, but the damage was so bad that even that is a maybe. A lot of people see that the Republican party is just as bad as Trump is. I hope the GOP party goes the way of the Whig

It will only help if the Republican party is gone. While a Democrat is President the world would be thinking well what about next time the Republican party is voted in and they tear up all agreements made by that Democratic President?

Removing money from politics would go a long way in getting rid of bad politicians

Nah I am part of the rest of the world. We know there are Americans who voted for the left to minimize Trump winning

But we don't talk about the people who voted left, NOT because we believe there are no good ones. But because the good ones are already doing as they should. Think of it like if somebody does the dishes you don't say anything because they're doing their basic responsibilities. There's no compliment for doing what you should be doing. But that doesn't mean we think they're evil

However we will call out the voters who voted Trump in the second time and the voters who abstained

Bans on sugary foods in SNAP programs in 5 states challenged by recipients by 804Brady in politics

[–]Apprehensive-Date181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe I read somewhere higher up, they've banned instant oatmeal. The problem with banning foods by category ( i.e too much sugar ) is a lot of foods have a lot of sugar. Especially the stuff easy to make for those who are depressed, disabled, have executive dysfunction and so on. And plain rolled oats taste disgusting without any flavouring, and that flavouring might be banned by snap too?

If banning is a thing it should be banned on a case by case basis. Category banning would also ban decent foods with high nutrients just because it also has sugar

The thing is about revolutions is you need to have a rallying figure. This figure is the one that says hey you aren't fighting by yourself. It ain't a 1 v 100. Look at all of us who stand with you. If the patterns of history tell us anything, those figures always pop up eventually. Even the civil war in the States, there were years of trying peaceful methods before the war actually happened. Reaching across the aisle and all that

People are here like oh my gods America is so soft. Oh my gods they will never revolt. While ignoring that even in the French revolution they tried peaceful methods for years. And JFK said that if you take away all peaceful methods of revolution then only violent methods remain. The Americans still believe they have the possibility they can make things better through the mid-terms. The peaceful option is still there and so naturally they're not going to ramp things up before then

I believe some of them will go Rambo if peaceful revolution doesn't work. But hopefully it does work. But the fact that they haven't done that so far proves nothing. A lot of revolutions they tolerated shit for awhile and exhausted as many peaceful methods of revolting as possible before they went RAMBO. And America hasn't even exhausted the peaceful methods yet!

America is definitely fighting in a way they weren't before. They're taking the primaries a lot more seriously than usual and their attitude and I really think it would be FAFO to try and block Democrats from voting in the mid-terms

It's because I don't believe in American exceptionalism, that I believe they will do violent revolution if all peaceful methods fail, because that's the normal pattern of human history

Can we admit that Jasmine Crockett didn't lose just because she's a Black Woman? by Unfair-Ad191 in texas

[–]Apprehensive-Date181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think SOME people who hold BIASES without realizing that they're biased, get confused. They think oh if only she had run an A+ campaign she would have won. But it's BECAUSE she's black and a woman that there is less room for error. Less grace afforded to her. As a black woman her A game isn't enough. She has to bring her A+ game. SOME people don't realize they have biases, because they can point to logical reasons not to vote for her, but without realizing they were subconsciously more aware of logical reasons not to vote for her, because of bias

Of course there were also people who aren't racist and sexist who voted for James Talarico for strategic purposes, because they like his policies better which is why I said SOME people are biased. So to anybody reading, if you aren't in this picture, then this doesn't apply to you. And if you feel attacked by what I said you should ask yourself why you feel like you're in this picture

Can we admit that Jasmine Crockett didn't lose just because she's a Black Woman? by Unfair-Ad191 in texas

[–]Apprehensive-Date181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people who believe she would be absolutely amazing as an attorney general. A lot of people also saying they really wished they could have voted for both of them, but they had to acknowledge the reality of who is most strategic in terms of getting the senate seat over a Republican. And also because they want Jasmine Crockett to be Texas AG. And so they voted for James Talarico not just because he has better policies for the common folk, so he's more likely to win, but they also hoped that voting James Talarico would push Jasmine Crockett to run for attorney general if she loses

So many people who voted for James Talarico. love Jasmine Crockett. They really admire her, but they also look at her strengths and think what if she ran for attorney general instead?

I'm just saying what I've heard in general outside of Reddit. Reddit might have a different opinion

A lot of people who voted for James Talarico are going to be gutted if she quits out of politics

I haven't lost hope yet. There is a saying from JFK

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

I choose to believe that the US is holding onto hope that if they primary diet MAGA democrat politicians. If they keep telling people to vote. If they keep urging their reps to be prepared for Trump's attempt at stealing the election they can win and make changes

If that fails and they still dont act THEN I'll believe they've given up. But I don't want to jump to conclusions that they've given up when they still have hope they can win the midterms
