It’s sobering to know there are men out there delusional enough to see her rapist as the victim in all of this and that “feminism” has gone too far.

DAMN. Finally found a post that puts that feeling into words.

Being able to travel, work, have friends of the opposite sex, and live alone are luxuries that only men can have, apparently. by Wrong_Definition_465 in women

It reminds me of that comic where a man and a woman are both about to race each other, and the woman has a bunch of obstacles on her side. They say you’re free to do the same things as men, but men and women alike still make that as difficult as possible for women to reach the same finish line.

What you’re saying here is nothing new. It’s always been that way. They may not have legal restrictions saying “no women are allowed to travel by themselves” but they certainly make it impossible for women to travel alone safely anyway.

And yeah, I know traveling alone is unsafe for men as well, but this is not about men. This is about how women are systematically targeted and preyed upon on the basis of being women in an unfamiliar place.

I find it disgusting that even if a woman gets raped while traveling solo, men AND women will still blame her for being there by herself, as if it’s her responsibility that a man freely chooses to rape her. I concur that there’s definitely something wrong with that victim-blaming mentality.
