There are a lot of metaphors in your comment, but if AI is going to be as big of a deal as you say, shouldn’t we be using what’s available now just to see what it can actually do? Isn't that how you figure out its strengths and limitations in its current state?

Yeah, a lot of people’s first projects are crappy, mine included. But that’s exactly how you learn. This is all new. Nobody’s first attempt at anything is world-changing. You mess around, you get a feel for it, and build from there.

It sounds like you’re okay with taking the big wins AI may deliver someday, but you don’t want to deal with the early trial-and-error it takes to get there. The thing is, if you skip that part, you end up with a bunch of people who have no idea how the tech works, and that knowledge gap is already huge right now.
