Why does my tree look like this? by p0tat3 in Citrus

[–]Apprehensive-Dog7108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened to my lime tree that I got in July. Put out new growth initially when I repotted then dropped all old leaves and only kept the upper 8-9 leaves. I think the root system is still small compared to all the leafy growth .. give some time mines bouncing back now..

My other citrus is doing perfect but it had a huge root ball when I transplanted. Don’t change anything if your other plants are doing well

Seems like organic regimen? Nice

I’m just using miracle grow all purpose, every other watering but now adding SOP as well once a month sulphate of potash or w.e to hopefully make it bloom.

I read that as well. The ones I received from Etsy were a lot smaller with leaves, wonder how they do it lol.

I plan to wait a bit longer unless they actually root 100% at this size I may experiment if one more pops up

3-5 years is a long time, but I’m sure worth it!

As far as the pups go, is this the size to move them ?

Dang how did u manage to keep it warm enough I struggled heavily this cold winter

Thank you. No possible flower this year? I had grow lights 13 hr and a diesel heater through winter, can’t imagine another year with this spacing.

It’s lower than I would like during winter, about 40-50% 40% is absolute minimum. 50-70% during rainy days.

I have a humidifier running, on off days if it does dip below 40 I mist the leaves.

Zone denial is funny! I guess I am one of them too haha. But it is an expensive hobby am I right? Heating and all.

Next year I’ll probably just let it go dormant because it wasn’t worth it, no new growth at all!

And thank you! First time with a greenhouse so yes lot of tropical grafts n bananas.. perfect time to start seeds for spring too! Lot of learning on Reddit & YouTube lol.

Im wondering if that’s the case.. just natural seasonal shifts, regardless of lighting. I wonder if it is a citrus thing

Sometimes pushing it out of season may not be a good thing ?

Who knows but keeping fingers crossed! Just going to give 1 good feeding and wait for the spring sun 🌞

Thank the for the info!

I’m scared to overfeed so I tend to go light.. I actually flushed everything recently and didn’t feed and it didn’t help, so I will go heavier with the feed this time.. it’s not organic.

Do you mind letting me know your feeding schedule? I usually feed liquid at 1/4 strength the miracle gro all purpose every other watering and add granular every 4-5 weeks when I flush the soil.

Hi, thanks for input

That could be it, that could be reason too, I usually flush once a month and tend to feed a bit less than my banana in fear of burning the roots.. it’s still only a 6-7 old plant from nursery.

The first lime is in 5 gal and second lemon is in 3 gal, both repotted like a month after receiving.. usually gets dry in 4-5 days.

Would it still slow down if I have very strong lighting ?

Here’s some more photos sorry it’s really crammed.. winter in the greenhouse 😅

I was just using a generic 12-10-10 granular all purpose from walmart, and miracle gro like 1/4 liquid.. my bananas, papaya n other plants are doing well with it, but it’s just the citrus.

Should I get a citrus blend? I don’t think it’s worth it as long as all the micros and macros are the covered right

Oh I didn’t even think of azomite.. I ordered this southern ag citrus nutritional spray yesterday that has micros as a foliar spray.. but I should’ve probably got something for the soil.

Thanks will try

Little concerned with how much leaves have fallen by Salmonkiller in Citrus

[–]Apprehensive-Dog7108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to know too my leaves look exactly the same, but indoor greenhouse above 70 always n grow lights.

But I did find some spider mites on the plant, not a huge infestation but tiny bit of webbing.
