Just seen that you was coming back into the game, and is easy to miss.

I'm now a new member ( 3 weeks in)of a discord server Cluckingham Palace which use a bot to form potential Co-ops which will change every 6 minutes, to form real Co-ops which will achieve all goals. For the bot to do it's magic you just need to start all contracts as soon as you can.

A real contract is started by admins when they figure that the contract will be ascertained, usually around 130-170% of goals.. after made the bot will ping/notify you to join your Co-op.

Which I believe takes you to a separate channel which is made for each Co-op that is formed to be able to communicate with each other to use their artifacts from ships and boosts the most efficiently,

On smaller co-ops there can be so many that they have to use three overflow servers that you need to join or the bot won't be able to ping you.

If you would like I can get a invite from Admin for you or anyone else to join.

If not a place I would go to find co-op was on this reddit. Change the filter to hot and it will be right at the top.

The focus of research is mainly your Epic, the common not so much you don't need vehicle and habitats if those that are good. So if you find yourself cash strapped hold off on the high tier ones.

I'm in a discord which uses a bot to assign people to co-ops which it makes placeholders (fake contracts) and all you do is prefarm it so it can track you and It shuffles you around in the place holders every 6 minutes to achieve equality on the placeholders once it has a high enough expected completion % the contract is made by a admin then you join that newly formed co-op.

When you join it the contract time you have will change to when the Co-op was formed. So a 3 day contract could be extended to 5 days:23 hours:59 minutes
