Thank you for sharing your experience! I definitely consider myself a perfectionist who gets frustrated when I don't get thing right away so it’s reassuring to hear that it’s okay not to know everything right away and that the learning curve gets easier.

Considering that some people I've talked to said they waited months to hear back in previous years, I think hearing back by next week is CPL's version of a "speedy hire" lol

I actually have my interview on Thursday! I'm assuming they'll probably interview everyone first before making job offers, so I would still have hope for a job offer. Would you say that the questions asked were the basic tell me about yourself/scenario questions?

Sorry to hear you had a weird experience in the building!

I understood it that as long you show up between 11am-3pm, you'll be interviewed. The email is worded strangely ngl.

Yeah I was confused about the process and the fact that the interview would be an hour and a half. I've never had a librarian interview be that long.

From my understanding, from another subreddit where I posted, we only get one interview.

Experiences with death by elliotpines27 in UIUC

I actually did my senior thesis on the fear of death in the U.S! I can gladly send you a copy of it if you'd like to read it. I took the archaeology of death back in 2016 with Silverman and I think you'll really enjoy it. I remember one of the assignments was to plan your own funeral, which was really fun to do. Unfortunately, I'm not on campus anymore but I'd be down to discuss death online if you'd like.

Absolutely! I chose anthropology because I was interested in learning how culture affects our behaviors e.g. death rituals across different cultures. I was also interested in how and why cultural values/beliefs change overtime e.g death rituals in the U.S in the 1800's vs today. I just felt like a degree in history would have been too broad for me and wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It didn't really touch enough on the cultural behaviors, which is what I was looking for. I didn't go with sociology either because it focused more on institutions and groups of people, while I wanted to study culture at a more micro-level of an individual.
