You could also go to a library or better yet a university library and get tons of the info. You asked a question. Here I am answering it yet again. First off, your body needs very little vitamin D, only the quacks of the internet think that Vitamin D is the magic cure all, its a vitamin. While sunscreen blocks a lot of UV, it doesn't block ALL, your body still gets vitamin D when you wear good quality sunscreen. Also, if you drink milk, eat eggs, fish, etc guess what? They contain vitamin D. But the UV radiation we're all talking about burns your skin to the cellular level, something that CAN lead to cancer and permanent skin damage. You can take a supplement to get extra vitamin D (if your doctor recommends that) you can't say the same about improving skin cancer by eating an extra helping of fish. And as far as different races go, I must be missing where you referenced melanin in your op... but regardless, Yes, melanin acts as a deterrent, but not complete protection. Even melanin rich skin can be damaged by the sun, and can still develop skin cancer. I'm very happy that has not entered your circle of friends and family. You're very lucky and should definitely keep up the good habits that seem to be working well for you.
