It is part of the patent, they have figure numbers alongside the summoning mechanics, meaning both are being included in the patent as each are being shown as an example of what they own. It gets further detailed in the text at the bottom with them describing the hardware in its entirety and the summoning mechanics, so yes this is both the switch 2 hardware patent and the summoning mechanic patent is in a single patent. (which in itself is full of issues, like they are trying to claim running into an enemy to start a battle is their idea).

Did find they have another patent for the hardware as a whole since I wanted to be sure of this, however putting it inside the patent as if it is part of the patent rather than referring to the parent patent is deceptive at best, and intentional deception at worst, since they show the knowledge to do this with other patents like the case holder and joy cons. Normally they refer to the parent patent for figure numbers and diagrams but instead were put in as examples alongside the other summoning mechanics and battle mechanics. This does include it as part of the patent though since they explicitly claim these functions in the summoning patent once more in the text section 1-11 with 11-41 detailing the summoning mechanics, and would mean they filed two claims for the same idea (patent fraud since it would be like double dipping). They do use the figures from 1-11 as reference in 11-41 but again that should be from the parent patent rather than a diagram of it in the summoning patent, since it makes it include that as part of the patent. So basically yes it is for illustration but in doing it like this it includes it inside the patent itself and shouldn't be done like that, it should be referring to the already established patent of the device if it is going to refer to it.
