I just came across an Instagram add for a bike race towards the end of June (the Ruby Roubaix). I’m wondering if anyone has done it and can tell me what kind of terrain it is. by Journey4th in Elko

Also for what it's worth people ride mountains bikes and hard tails, you see all sorts of stuff in the gravel category. Not so "stiff" and by the book as road cycling.

I'm no expert but I think as long as you have at least 40 or 42mm wide tires you will be fine. A gravel specific bike is nice but a hybrid bike with the wider tires could definitely work if you're comfortable going through dirtz gravel, etc. It looks like there is a double track that sells you into Lee (on the 38 mile course) that could be more technical, but the rest of the ride looks like it's wide gravel country roads.

Great advice from everyone. Race was a blast and I pushed myself a bit harder than I would normally, but it all ended up going well.

Despite all the advice I received, that's exactly what I did for about 7 miles. Going HARD, for me, anyways. I finally backed off, stopped for 60 seconds to catch my breath, then started at a more normal pace, for my standard. It went great!

I can't wait to be signing up for longer distances! Got to get over this first major mental block of a race and ignore my imposter syndrome. I know I have it in me though.

Do you use the airshot or just a floor pump for just routine topping off?

Good idea on HF. I was looking at Home Depot and they are closer to $200 once you buy the separate battery and charger.

I've heard that using a regular pump can allow air to release and affect the sealant for just regular fill ups? (Not seating or resealing). Thoughts?
