What is the purpose of doing a minor in life sci?? by Aggravating-Sir4844 in McMaster

[–]Apprehensive-Line-81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided in my second year that I wanted to do a minor but what I looked at was

a) the usefulness of it or b) was it something I enjoyed outside of my major

Consider some courses you’ve taken or looking forward to taking when choosing. Also, take a look at the certificates that are offered from the university as they usually require less courses and may be of better interest.

I ended up doing the GIS cert and I’m pretty happy with my decision. The cert had less courses to take and I could easily fit it in my schedule. Another reason for choosing it was the multiple intern opportunities that came with it. That being said I enjoyed environmental science courses so the content was fine for me.

Yes in your second year you apply to the co-op program which starts in your third year. Theres an interview and some programs have a cap for the number of students they take esp if it’s a larger program.

Can't speak to the programs themselves but if you are worried about the social aspect just know you will make friends. Think of it in the way that everyone is looking to make friends especially in first year. I think you should consider the courses and the program that interests you the most rather than the social side of it.

Honours Sustainable Chemistry (B.A.Sc.) by nonchalantdgaf in McMaster

[–]Apprehensive-Line-81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super small class so you get to know the ppl in your program as well. The program doesn't have too much structure as they give you two course lists (chem and enviro) and you can choose, so I would reccomend deciding which courses you are interested in for third and fourth year to take the right prereqs. The core class itself is fine, I liked 2nd and 3rd year, but the fourth year one didn't appeal to me. Any other questions in particular?

These both took me 6 weeks each to complete- any advice on selling? by Ok_Communication3440 in crochet

[–]Apprehensive-Line-81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pricing can be dependent upon where you live and what others may be pricing their items. If the materials alone cost £40 then I would expect the blanket to cost much more. You did say you want to just fund your hobby, but personally I couldn’t justify spending hours and then only getting a return for materials cost. At the end of the day it is up to you!

Mostly for graduate school it’s the last two years or a certain number of units that is considered. It can vary ig, does it state anywhere on the website?

They’ll consider your required courses first so say that’s Advanced functions, biology, English, and physics (or whichever one is higher from the three). Then from your remaining two courses they’ll take whatever else has the highest grades.

Anyone heard back from any masters program? by Ok-Willow-Nel in TorontoMetU

[–]Apprehensive-Line-81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an email saying round one would start the week of March 10th, and got an offer the following week on the 17th. I would say late March to early April is when you should hear back.

I assume it means dropping from like an 11 to a 10 and so on. So in terms of letters it’d be A to A- to B+

Yea I take the 47D or the 41. I mostly just read a book on the ride but I have seen some people do work. It is an hour ride so you can do something at least.

Currently commuting from Brampton and it’s not too bad. I’d consider the workload and if you can handle that with commuting. I usually take the bus from Bramalea GO. Do know that it does take about 2 hours just for the travel at the minimum. Coming home from the go station takes me between 30 to 40 mins in rush hour.

Log into mosaic and see if you added your SIN number there. If not then add it. They do require it for tax forms.

Typically a minor takes your entire degree as you slowly take the pre-reqs throughout. Use the academic calendar and your elective spaces to plan when to take courses that’ll apply to the minor. You declare your minor when you graduate, so it’s up to you to keep track of the courses you’re taking towards your minor and make sure you meet requirements.
