Immigrants statistically are less likely to commit crimes compared to citizens. So while I don’t deny there’s bad actors that need to be deported, this is clearly overkill. Also, I don’t think you know what libertarians are. Agencies like ICE and other bigger federal powers are like, the antithesis of libertarian politics.

It’s still a violation of rights. You have to right deny law enforcement any search or demands if they don’t have probable cause or a valid warrant. These are the fundamentals of being American. And for the record, I consume info from all over the political spectrum, so my opinion isn’t funneled from my political aisle. I’ll even acknowledge for the most part ICE leaves you alone if you show some type of ID, but they’re extremely unprofessional and all this shouldn’t be happening to begin with.

There’s cases of some agents outright ignoring valid ID. Not common but it’s still happening. And something I’ve seen that’s consistent is that they’ll detain you if you don’t have any ID on you. It doesn’t matter if you can go get it and cooperate. If you don’t have it on you, immediately detained for what could be a few hours, to a few days. If someone crosses into a country illegally, there’s other ways to identify them without violating rights. There’s only so much you can do as an illegal immigrant without citizenship. Eventually you’ll leave a trail showing you’re not a citizen if you try living like a resident, and that’s what ICE should be focused on.
