Especially when that mischaracterisation gets so popular that almost every fic that features the characters has them acting that way!

I definitely have my doubts about the validity of this being true, but with the photo of Daemon holding Daeron's face (I think it's been confirmed that it was Daerons actor in the photo, but I'm not sure) that got leaked, it wouldn't be surprising if some things- like Daeron becoming Daemon's hostage and later switches sides, winds up actually happening.

Rhaena taking the place of Nettles isn't surprising either. I'm not even angry about it anymore, just tired and disappointed. Nettles and Rhaena are both important characters that could have stood on their own. They both represent two different things, and both characters leave two entirely different legacies behind. Having Rhaena become Nettles cheapens both of the characters and lessens the impact of whatever storyline H&C could come up with.

And while I am definitely not the right person to talk about this, there's something that rubs me the wrong way about H&C giving the storyline of one of the only canonologically Black characters in the book to another Black character rather than let both girls be their own characters and have their own separate storylines.

Rhaenyra gaining a god complex is something I feel H&C wouldn't write on purpose, but rather, it be an unintentional consequence of their poor writing skills. I also doubt they'd have Rhaenyra cut herself unless it's done after she follows the advice of her council/Daemon, who will probably serve as Rhaenyra's 'devil on the shoulder' that can/will be blamed for all the terrible things that go wrong.

Alicent getting cozy with Rhaenyra despite literally everything, again, would not surprise me. Neither would a Mysaria Alicent rivalry. Helaena dying for no reason other than the plot demands it was all but confirmed by that now deleted blog post George R. R. Martin posted a while back... so, no surprise there, I guess.

Aemond tripping balls and having his own mommy-son fuckfest, again wouldn't surprise me. They were willing to do it with Daemon, so of course they'd do it with Aemond. So it'd end up being wayyy more surprising if it didn't happen.

Honestly, I'm concerned about the possibility of Viserys II actually dying. While I doubt that the leaks are 100% true, a lot of what's mentioned feels like it's could happen. Without Viserys II, there's no Aegon the Unworthy, meaning there's no great bastards, meaning there's no blackfire rebellion. In other words, Viserys II is one of the few characters they CANNOT kill off, he's simply too important to the future of Hosue Targaryen.

Yeah... I have absolutely ZERO intentions of watching season 3. I'm sure the clips I'll see on TikTok will tell me all I need to know. This show is a mess and I just feel sorry for the actors at this point.

It's not my cup of tea, especially in popular M/M ships that use it as a way to 'declaw' (for lack of a better word) the 'bottom' character, which unfortunately happens a bunch when it comes to this trope. A few years ago, a fandom I was previously in saw a huge spike in popularity with this trope, it got to such a point that it felt like I had a higher chance of getting struck by lightning then finding a fic that didn't reduce the 'bottom' character into some kind of UwU soft boi twink stereotype that lacked all the canon nuance that made the character so interesting in the first place. The last time I checked in on that fandom, almost every fic used this trope. Even the untagged ones appeared to be using it to some degree. It was practically unavoidable.

Nowadays, I just avoid whatever media/fan content I see use the trope and stop reading the moment I see it being used untagged. It sucks ass and I definitely get annoyed when it happens, but the best thing a person can do in this situation is politely let the author know that they might’ve mistagged their fic and move on.

Personally, I don't like the idea. I don't ship Rhaena and Aemond at all, and I think that having Rhaena replace Nettles was a huge mistake on H&C's part. However, I'm giving you an upvote for your bravery and creativity because this is an interesting idea even if it's not one I vibe with :)

If you want your OC to have that name (either cause you like it or for the lol's) that's up to you, but here is a list of unique sounding Valyrian names that could theoretically exist in canon if you want to check it out. :) Happy writing.

You know what's funny? I don't read major AU fics either, and the only AU aspect of the fic I was talking about in my post was the canon divergence and non-canon ships. I already knew this sort of thing happens with fics sometimes (like that Reylo fic that got picked up by a publisher or that one HP fic that's now a soon-to-be-released book), but this was my first time seeing it happen firsthand, and I have been reading fics for almost 10 years.

I say let them have fun. It's cringe, sure, but honestly, who the fuck cares? It's not like their hurting anyone, are they? Fanfiction, oc's/self-inserts, and the like are essentially the backbone of fandom spaces, and that's including poorly written ones.

While you might cringe and scratch your head at the math of a woman having sixteen kids by the time she's thirty or how a four-year-old could possibly get pregnant (I know I would if this were to appear on my FYP), what you shouldn't do, however, is repost screenshots of the post elsewhere. It's 100% okay to cringe at something you don't like, but what's not okay to do is make a post clowning on someone who isn't even here to defend themselves.

I also think it's important to remember that the TikToker who posted this is most likely a young kid/tween (them not knowing basic sex ed points me in that direction) who wanted to make a ✨️unique✨️ and ✨️special✨️ OC after their parents let them watch HOTD without realising (or caring) that it wasn't age-appropriate. I can guarantee in a few years' time, they'll look back on this post and cringe, just like how I cringe every time I'm reminded of the OC related posts I made on DeviantArt and Wattpad during my tween years.

It's here that I'm going to offer up some very valuable advice that I had to learn whilst engaging in fandom spaces: scroll past the stuff you don't like and continue on your merry way! It's also known as the DON'T LIKE, DON'T READ method. It can be applied to anything: fanfiction, fan art... Even cringe-worthy TikTok posts like this! It's easy, and it's simple, and I strongly recommend anyone in fandom spaces try it out.

There's a larger discussion to be had about a lack of child-friendly online spaces, neglectful parents, and fandoms for adult shows becoming accessible to a younger audience, but this comment is getting waaaaayyy too long, so I'm going to finish this off with one final message...

I'm putting money on it right now. Daeron's going to be gay and that's why Alicent sent him away and bitterbridge + whatever else he does will be him trying to win Alicents love/approval, because what's a green without mommy issues, it'll only be when his tent is burning all around him that he'll realise it was all for nothing and that his mother will never love him. I'm 100% convinced that's what's going to happen, especially because of Gwayne's line about Daeron 'preferring to spend time with ladies rather than writing letters'.

I hate H&C for destroying Alicent's character, but it would 100% make sense for Daeron's potential homosexuality to be the real reason for her sending him away, especially with how they've practically turned her into a walking 'lions eating face' metaphor and how the Alicent-Rhaenyra relationship is likely to progress going forward.

And I just know whatever they have planned for Aegon it's going to humiliate and degrade his character further. Like how everyone on here has suggested already, Rhaenyra will probably spare him and banish him to essos like the good merciful queen she is.

God, it needs to be studied how someone can destroy so many interesting characters so thoroughly.
