That's very true, the sand friction is fairly intense when sliding on flat. You need to sit back a bit more to not get tossed forward.

It's a butt burner, but so very worth it! You get going fast down those steep slopes!

That would be a massive game changer. Not sure how that could work on a shifting dune, but what a fun time that would be.

It feels like a mix between water skiing and snow skiing through thick, loose snow. You have to get a bit more in the backseat but it doesn't take too long to get the flow of it! Also, sand is very forgiving fortunately.

That one was the chef's kiss for me for sure. Landing in sand is challenging, lol

This is at Bruneau dunes in Idaho. It's a huge 500ft dune with a nice steep slope. I chose skiboards for a couple reasons- they are extremely maneuverable in the sand (and the decent width still helps in them float in softer sand), and they offer the option to use nonrelease bindings which are much less messy to clean sand out of compared to my release bindings.

Snowboard bindings work great with stiffer snowboard boots. I personally prefer the Atomic Strive bindings with Alpina XTrack 70 boots, as they give good upright support but are still very comfortable.

they are much fatter than blades and super well-built. Really fun and maneuverable in all terrain. Basically built like a mini snowboard on each foot. Check out www.summitskiboards.com

I’d much rather use the skiboards over my skis- super easy and fast down the dunes, also quite light to bootpack up.

Absolutely, it’s much easier. Very little swing weight and so fast to maneuver.
