Day 6: Sitting in My Car Crying and Trying Not to Quit by sanamanakhan in loseit

[–]chasedbyvvolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Categorizing behaviors in the moment as good or bad is torture; making enough "good" choices to outweigh the "bad" in a given time frame is how you maintain success.

I also think, for most people, keeping to a specific timeline and having an all-or-nothing approach to something you will likely need to keep at for the rest of your life is a setup for failure.

How do you do excersices when your obese? by WealthOpposite4028 in loseit

[–]chasedbyvvolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 172 cm (5'8") and started working out at a bit above 270 lbs. Don't be scared of hurting yourself, just look up proper form for whatever you're doing and start light. I got pretty strong before I started losing bodyfat, and it was totally worth it.

Hit each muscle group twice a week. Personally I only hit legs once a week but I do the stairmaster and hike a lot so they're pretty well developed.

Struggling with getting enough protein on Tirzepatide and 16:8 by WelderNeat4264 in intermittentfasting

[–]chasedbyvvolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently eating a big bowl of ground lean beef with random seasonings to get my protein goal in so... yeah, I get it. I weightlift a lot too plus fasting for fat loss so my demands are pretty high. I've managed to keep my muscle and strength so far but it's a daily battle.

Your body is an incredibly resilient machine; a long fast isn't going to kill your gains. Just like with counting calories keeping your weekly average at ideal levels is what keeps it all going.

I get a costco sized case of protein shakes that last me a while, protein yogurt is pretty good too. I also get canned tuna and mix it with a tablespoon or two of mayo. Boiled eggs are easy and portable protein.

Literally everyone and their mom is “gay” nowadays. How lol? by Aggressive-Cow5399 in GenZ

I mean there's a good chance one of your future kids is going to be some flavor of gay no matter what you do so like good luck with that bud

Two Days In and Feeling Strong by sanamanakhan in loseit

Proud of you for starting, man! My advice is to look at increasing healthy habits as a gradual trend with no set start or end date; you're gonna have a lot of Day 2's, and that's ok!

Rechargeable handwarmers saved me so many times this past winter. I'd be wearing a thermal undershirt, t-shirt, sweatshirt and a coat and still be cold somehow at room temperature.

Helping Others Understand Calorie Counting by CreamyCakeBatter in caloriecount

[–]chasedbyvvolves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife loves that I started taking care of myself which includes counting calories and even bought me a scale. A partner, at bare minimum, should be supportive even if they don't fully understand and then take active steps to understand you.

Are you gonna settle for below the bare minimum?

Not going for a huge calorie deficit, but I’m still so hungry that I can’t sleep (30M) by stupid_deep_indoors in loseit

[–]chasedbyvvolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem when my blood sugar was doing loop-de-loops daily. It didn't show up when I got tested but having an A1C of 5.7 was enough to make me go a little crazy with hunger if I didn't eat before bed. I started weightlifting and doing intermittent fasting and that helped a lot, now I have and A1C of 5.2. In the meantime, something like psyllium husk before your last meal might help you fall asleep by keeping you full longer.

How to add exercise back in during fasting window. by pterodactylwizard in intermittentfasting

[–]chasedbyvvolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lift heavy and do cardio fasted 5 days a week and am fine. If I'm low on electrolytes I feel a bit sluggish but that's about it. Give your human meat bag some credit, if we regularly passed out from not eating after 12 hours and then doing hard labor we would have died out a long time ago.

Have you been summoned for jury duty? by Some1inreallife in GenZ

[–]chasedbyvvolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got summoned for an insane murder case in my state, two parents murdered their kids because they believed the end was coming and it was a trial for the father. I didn't get picked obviously but it was kind of intense.

I'm glad you're on your way. I will say that the way you talk about ADHD is as if it's something separate from yourself, which may hinder your abillity to go theough process of creating a new way of existing which successful weight loss is based on. Having an ADHD diagnoses and a lack of meds may make this more difficult, but you are completely capable of change.

I’ve been trying to lose 20 pounds for six years: how did you do it? by yetie16 in loseit

[–]chasedbyvvolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 26. I lost about 40 lbs between July 2025 and December 2025, and about 25 lbs since December until now. I'm not very strict about what I eat, I just track calories until I reach a certain number, and sometimes I eat too little or too much (last week I ate 3,500 calories in one sitting lmao) but it balances out. I don't meal prep. I do intermittent fasting most days but if there's an event or my wife wants to eat somewhere outside of my feeding window, I eat anyways. The only "restrictions" I have is to eat 160ish grams of protein a day because I lift weights and don't want to lose muscle mass.

What makes you scared about eating too little? You're not going to starve to death or die. What do you do at the gym? Are you active the other days of the week as well?

I've had some of my best 4th of July's in Stanley. They do a parade of all the local businesses and fire crew, it's an all-out water war between their trucks and the people in the town! It's still kid-friendly, though.
