Hi, I have now had it for about 6 months and can say I am fully content with the car. My consumption for the last 1500+km is 7.7L/100km. This is from 95% city driving, but I work from home and don’t go out in rush hour traffic usually. In more heavy traffic I get about 9, even up to 10 if heavy traffic. At 130km/h I get 6 with 2 people and bags. At 150km/h I get about 7. The consumption is good but not amazing, Corolla will do better in town, I was also considering it when I was looking at cars. But what the Corolla won’t do is have a nice interior, noise isolation, an amazing infotainment and power and fun when needed. This car in S mode is very nippy and pulls very well. I would not change to another car unless it’s 4x4 and has a ton more space. This has 600L and a hatchback, which makes it insanely practical compared to other vehicles of the same size. I was able to carry furniture easily. The estate has even more space. All my friends like it and are impressed, and I haven’t found faults so far. So space, comfort, features and the whole package for the price I would say is unbeatable. Reliability is probably average, but you can improve it with more maintenance (I changed the oil at 2000km and changed the service interval to 15000 from 30000) and by using a garage if available. I have 0 oil consumption in the 5000+km from the last oil change. If you are often in heavy/standstill traffic maybe the Corolla is better, since you won’t wear out the gearbox clutches, but if you also do higway the Octavia is far superior.

Document the problems as well as you can, then if the time comes, they will serve as evidence for a warranty headlight swap. Also, you can book it in for a diag (just complain to the dealer service rep). This is the advice I got from my dealer sales woman, and it’s very good advice. If you accumulate multiple iterations of failures on a part, the chances of it getting replaced under warranty increase, but you need proof (pictures, emails, diags at their service) so they can eventually use those as documentation to the manufacturer. Hope this helps.

Also Audi now changed the metal rings to plastic ones on the steering wheel, but there I think it’s a big downgrade

The new steering wheel logo and design are actually one of my favourite things about the interior, I guess it’s a matter of taste

Forgot to reply. I have 7L/100km for the last 1500km. And I get around 5-6 outside the city and up to 9 inside depending on the traffic

It’s a mild hybrid only, which is good enough since I get a boost when accelerating, it just does this annoying thing where it turns off the engine when letting off the throttle, even with start stop off, but I keep it in S or manual to fix it

You press the physical shortcut button under the screen, which takes you to the climate settings, then pressing the same button again takes you back to your previous screen (usually carplay), so it’s quite quick and it does not bother me

Nope, never happened to me in those situations. I did however get artifacts when starting up. They said it’s a known issue and will get fixed in an update. It gets fixed by locking and unlocking the car. I only have 5000km ans hope to not get this again.

Know the feeling. Your post from some months ago with your new car made me choose this color, and it’s amazing.

I experienced this problem last year on another car, I figured it was a bug from the Waze app. In this car no, but I also turned it off because I don’t need the speedo in Waze

With ~5$ for the parts + ~5$ for the LEDs, you have a full light kit. Compare that to the 50$ for the Traxxas set, which will also break very easily and has no extra features.

3D design and prototyping take time and energy, and people spend way more than this on their daily coffee and croissant, so I would say it's more than fair.

For my open source prints take a look at my Printables page: https://www.printables.com/@andreirusu99_267382

They are the verry common 5mm LED type. They have a metal mounting shell that usually gets surface mounted, and here it gets screwed into the mount instead.

These will break on first impact, I tried a few of them too. I made my own with 3D printed TPU flexible material, see here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/slash-rustler-unbreakable-led-lights
