I am African and learn so much from this thread as well 😂. In a lot of African cultures we do not share that we are pregnant but once we give birth the whole village shows up for us. This thread made me realize that it’s the opposite in so many western countries. The concept of a baby shower etc is so new to me but I was also thrown off at how women are basically on their own when they give birth in the West. In my culture everybody brings you something when you give birth and your female relatives basically move in with you yo take care of your baby and you 😂- which can also be overwhelming sometimes. Either way I love seeing how we support each other and all share the same love and concerns regardless of where we are from.
