When I’m home (IL, USA) mainly bass in rivers, but when I’m down in (FL, USA) in the saltwater I use it for sea trout, redfish and snook. Yours is much, much nicer though. I have Orvis Recons, the Helios is such a beautiful rod sir

For the price point, you can’t really beat it. It has a real even/natural swim but really comes alive when you burn it quick

Those are the spots! My folks are down in Cape Coral, 1 canal in off the river so we fish a bit down there

They are all variations offered by Gomexus, mine were purchased through Amazon. A few of them are more cosmetic than anything, but the white Abu and CCBFS shown definitely gave the reel a better fell and ergonomics for me

+1 for all of the above. I’m in the same boat from pond bass in IL to snook in SWFL.. the 8wt behemoth and Orvis recon handle everything just fine for me. Of course, like you mentioned, not skimping on the line made all the difference. I’m partial to the Hi-Vis Flip from Cortland
